in the middle of my wj knuckle swap into my tj that has xj front axle. i am running factory style pitman arm.
should i consider a drop pitman arm to get my steering as close to level with the ground. i have all ready installed my brackets for my track bar and could get close to flat or at least parallel with my drag link. just not sure if going with a drop pitman arm is a good idea.

I would post a picture of your front axle/steering set up... I don't think there's any reason to ever use a drop pitman arm. Someone more knowledgeable will respond, but I removed the one on my jeep with 4" lift and ZJ steering components

Drag link and track bar need to be parellel. The imaginary line between mounting points. If either bar has any bends in it, dont reference the slope of the bars when determining if they are parallel.

It's not that you want anything level with the ground, you want the operating planes of the drag link and track bar parallel. And due to bends in the track bar, it can confuse people on whether it's parallel to the drag link or not.

What needs to be parallel are the imaginary lines between the mounting points of the track bar and the mounting points of the drag link. Like if you tied a pair of red and yellow strings between their mounting points, would those strings be parallel? Bends in the track bar don't affect it.
