Stock Jeep Wrangler TJ Showcase

Hey @KillerIsMe , sorry, it's been a few days since I've been on. Are you asking about the front plate on Big Red?
Big Red is an 05 LJR, with 47k miles. I bought it off of Rick at Red Rock Motors back in June. They are definitely Jeep people, and they only sell clean Jeeps with no rust or known issues. Rick went out of his way and helped me out a lot. I had him on the phone almost everyday asking questions about the Jeep and he always answered every question, sent tons of pictures, and even did the face time on my iPad and went through every inch of the Jeep before I bought it.
This was the first time I had ever purchased a vehicle without actually seeing it in person and not driving it, I was pretty damn nervous about it! They even suggested calling any local mechanic or dealership and setting up an appointment to have the Jeep fully inspected, and they would happily drive it there and have it inspected. They absolutely were not hiding anything. The Jeep was everything they promised it would be.
I think everything went well, and I'm happy with the purchase. They shipped it from Texas to my house in Tennessee, I had it in my driveway like 5 days after I bought it.
I'd say that if you see a Jeep in their site definitely call them and talk to them. They are really helpful and will answer any and all questions you could possibly ask. I know I asked them at least 1000 questions. Lol

Hey my friend.

I bought my Jeep from Red Rock Rick, same as you. Sight unseen. Khaki 2006 TJ Rubicon, 98,000 miles. I had it shipped to Pennsylvania but the shipping did not go so smoothly. I kept getting calls every day saying "tomorrow", and tomorrow finally came about a week later. Rick was helpful, face timed just like you did. Transaction was smooth and I love the Jeep. There's one big problem with it though - the clutch is bad. They're saying it didn't leave Texas like that, and I suppose I believe them, but I'm skeptical just the same. That would mean one of the Russians from the trucking company shredded the flywheel loading and offloading, which I guess is possible. It shifts just fine - sounds like a can of marbles when engaging though - but I'm getting it taken care of next week just the same. Preventive maintenance.

Other than the clutch the Jeep checks all the boxes. Body is excellent, the engine is smooth and strong, it's solid and steady going down the road, the interior is perfect, and the best thing is the rust-free frame. There are no rust-free Jeeps where I live which is why I went to Texas for one. I'm very happy with it.

I used to have a TJ Sport - had it for 10 years and 211,000 miles. It was my daily driver but I also had an f150. So when it was time for my older daughter to start driving I let her drive the Wrangler around. I used the insurance money to buy a Honda Fit, which I still have. Besides the Honda and the Rubicon I have an f350 so I don't have to drive the Jeep in the salt.

Anyway that's my story.

Hey @KillerIsMe ,
Man, I'm really sorry to hear that the clutch is out of the Jeep, and that you had to wait so long to get it. I would like to believe that Red Rock would not knowingly sell you a Jeep with a bad clutch, but it's also hard to believe that the clutch went out just by loading up on the truck. I really hope everything gets straightened out and that you can enjoy your new Jeep. I guess the main thing is that the Jeep is clean with no rust, the clutch is definitely a much easier fix than a rusted out frame. It just really sucks that it needs to be fixed right off the truck like that. I'd ask Red Rock if they would be willing to help pay a little bit of the repair bill just as a sign of good faith and good customer service. I don't know if they would, but its definitely worth asking.

Love the color, I am guessing it's not stock as far as paint goes. Any more pics?
Thank you!

Actually it is stock. It's called Chili Pepper Red. I love it too.

Ahh it's a rare color to see on TJ's and its not often you find a TJ with paint that has been corrected and cared for like that. Beautiful TJ! Thanks for the additional pictures.
Thank you! Yep it's in great condition. A few scratches on the hood you can see in correct lighting but nothing too major. Something interesting I found out recently from the build sheet: The factory fenders were originally black so one of the two owners before me painted them to match perfectly. Other than a few chips and rubs (oops 😬. Maybe santa will bring me a lift?) The paint has held up nicely on them too.

a 2.5 inch lift will really make your TJ look perfect.

Yeah I don't think they'll be too hot to pick up a portion of the tab. I had a nice long conversation with the owner, whom I'm sure you know, and the conversation was mostly one-sided. He went on for most of it about how they would "never knowingly send one out, blah, blah, blah", and I wanted to believe him, not only because I'm a trusting sort of person but also because I'm suffering the slings and arrows of embarrassment. Not from my wife - she's a "so what it's only money" type - more of a self-punishing embarrassment. I'm old enough to know better, and yet here I am.

Anyway, thanks for your kind words my friend. I'm taking it to the Jeep specialty shop this Thursday where I'll be just emptying every pocket 💸💸. I had it there a few weeks ago for PA state inspection and a couple preventive things - serpentine belt was aging, play in the track bar - and also because there was a nice loud clunk in the front end which turned out to be a sway bar link gone bad. As to the clutch it makes a pretty loud rattling noise when it just starts to engage and I was hoping it was maybe some sort of loose mount or something, and so they checked it over. The shop guy just smiled, said it's definitely up in the bell. So a clutch kit and flywheel it is. Oh well, it's only money. :)
