Switching from manual to automatic

It's called the PCM on earlier model years, different name for the same thing.

This should be what you need... and pay no attention to where it says Overdrive, it's correct for your 2002.

So hear we are 2 years later and wanted to post what I have learned on this project. Perhaps on other year TJ's a swap from standard to automatic is an easier task, but this was a pain in the rear. I could tell the whole story but would be too long as I ran into SEVERAL issues during the frame off restoration. Bottom line for the swap. I needed a complete engine harness from a 2002 TJ automatic transmission. Note that the converter lockup wires were there in the new harness, but the connectors didn't match what I had so I switched all my connectors out to Deutsch Connectors. (Big thanks to Jerry for the electrical info). Needed a computer from a 2002 TJ automatic. Then found out that the new computer was set up for the SKIM module (Sentry key immobilizer module) but my TJ did not have the SKIM Module. This allowed the jeep to start and run for 2 seconds then shut off. Researching I find out about the SKIM so I had to send the computer in to have the SKIM deleted from the computer. There are a few sources out there but I had great service with All Computer Resources

Other issues probably not related to the swap:
Got all of that resolved and took it for a drive. First trip the jeep died after it warmed up. took a while to get it started but managed to make it back. Scanned and found that the Cam Position sensor was throwing a code (Still original). Replaced now it stays running but is a booger to start after it gets hot (normal operating temperature). I have learned that it will start after getting hot if I try cranking it 3 times with turning the key on - crank - off. Strange but nothing surprises me any more. Next, on my long journey to work it was throwing codes for misfire. Research for both the starting issue and the code points towards the Crank Position Sensor. What I have read says to buy ONLY Mopar original to eliminate issues (still original sensor). So that is on order and we will see if all the bugs are worked out. Everything else is new - New tank, fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel rail, injectors, plugs, and coil pack.

I hope that my post will help others and want to say thank you to everyone that chimed in to help me. All of your input was of great value to me.
