Looking for a recommendation for a molle panel for the inside of the tailgate. Rigid is preferred, but all of them are grossly overpriced that I've been able to find...
I may very well roll my own, but a very wise teacher told me years ago to "never make something you can buy". But over the years I've added "Unless the store boughten ones are highway robbery" - which many of the molle panels I've seen are.Why not get a cloth piece that is wide & tall enough for what you want. Sew it up with a pocket so you could slide some flat stock thru on all 4 sides and screw it into the door?

I try to avoid micro projects when I can, but maybe I need to start looking for some ODG canvas - might as well make it "tacticool" if I gotta make the thing!It was how we had to make a lot of the panels we used in Iraq because no one was making them yet.
Yep - that's one of the ones I've been looking at. $78 is a shit load of coin to pay for something like that though.The PO of my Jeep installed something that looks like this, except it's camo and not black;

I have a few thing stored in it, but have never used it to it's capacity.

Zorba said he preferred a rigid molle panel and the only rigid molle panel I've done for a TJ tailgate is the one in the video below that's part of a tailgate table system and it's not in production yet anyway.@jscherb might have some ideas.
Whatever happened to the tailgate - removeable table?Zorba said he preferred a rigid molle panel and the only rigid molle panel I've done for a TJ tailgate is the one in the video below that's part of a tailgate table system and it's not in production yet anyway.
The prototype for that one is sitting in my workshop. I haven't done anything with it since I did this video (which shows it on a JK tailgate but it also mounts on a TJ tailgate). I did a small Molle panel as part of that prototype, you can see me attaching it in place in the video; I also designed a full-size Molle panel that attaches to the same mounts but I haven't made a prototype of that yet. I probably won't do anything more with it unless someone wants to put it into production.Whatever happened to the tailgate - removeable table?
That's a good point - I've looked at a few surplus places online, and they were pricey as well once shipping was factored in. Thanx fer the idea!Check an Army/Navy store. I found some military issues units for carrying hydration packs, full of MOLLEs, think they were $15
True, shipping is pricey. Here's place by me to check out. https://www.facebook.com/armynavystoreofficial/That's a good point - I've looked at a few surplus places online, and they were pricey as well once shipping was factored in. Thanx fer the idea!
Zorba, Here's my set-up. MOLLE loops on both sides.True, shipping is pricey. Here's place by me to check out. https://www.facebook.com/armynavystoreofficial/
Also, make sure to weave the molle bags properly... so many folks just send through a couple of the loops, and do not weave through the bag itself as well on each loop. (had to instruct many privates through sergeants, and LT's, on how to thread the molle system)I totally agree. One thing I've noticed is anything heavy (tools) sags and limits my ability to close the tailgate, even after removing the slack in the webbing.
