TerryD's 2006 LJ Rubicon

Just bought a bigger fan for the garage.
Between that and large amounts of Milo’s sweet tea I managed to get some things done on the LJR this morning.

Good luck and great choice on the Currie components. Been running Currie on my previous TJ for nearly 20 years now.
First thing I did after I bought the LJ was to swap out all arms, track bars, bump stops with Currie and also added their correct lync steering.

Got the driver's side LCA cut out this evening. Slow going but moving forward. Hoping the heat breaks soon so I can spend more time out there without burning myself up.

Got my front control arms installed and my bump stops set today. Hopefully I can get the springs in tomorrow and have it back on its tires.

I sold the front bumper from my Xterra today and immediately ordered the DirtWorx rear bumper for the LJ.

Everything is moving slower than I hoped but I'm getting there.

The new control arms and track bar made a huge difference in the front of the Jeep. I've still got to get the 265/75/16s on it and figure out the alignment.

Got some used 265/75/16s installed today. Looks better than the other tires and properly balanced it no longer shakes on the highway.

Looks great! I'll be interested in your feedback on those Yokohamas when you have some miles on them and have an opportunity to drive them in various forms of weather.

Will do. It'll be a while before I really know. These were run on a poorly aligned Tacoma and not rotated so they have some funky wear on the two on the rear of my Jeep. I'll have to do some rotations side to side a few times to get the scallops off them.

Finally got my GenRight bumper installed today. Hopefully I can get the winch put on soon. I've got to switch back to integrated controls from the remote setup on my Xterra.

I was going up a gravel road today and the Jeep freaked out and started a knocking sound similar to a rod or collapsed lifter.

The CEL came on for random multiple missfire and a Circuit A for the crank sensor, it idled up and down quickly several times till I got it in neutral, oil pressure gauge dropped to zero then slowly came back to normal and the knocking started.

Whatever the knocking is, it's coming and going. It was REALLY loud to begin with but got quieter through out the day to the point of being barely audible at all.

Are you familiar with OPDA issue in 05-06? If not — get searching here and forums.

I don't mean to be aggressive in the wording but sound like you've had a OPDA gear failure and, likely, a cam lobe failure.

I lived this dream. It's tough but you'll get through it.

Ask us lots of questions. I hope I'm wrong — but sharing from my (very bitter) experience that may, or may not, apply.

Pull the valve cover and see if all the rockers are moving. That was my first realization there was a problem...

I'm not trying to project, but I hear similarities... Hoping it's an easier solve for you!

Knock is gone. Like 100% gone.

Checked torque converter bolts and they were tight. Took them out and check flex plate. It's tight.

I have no idea.

But the winch is mounted!

Last part of the OPDA part # is 0624AC.

That mean anything? I can't find a good writeup on part numbers.

That Zeon 10S looks HUGE on that bumper.

Now I'm considering a winch cover to help protect the rope. It was hidden on my Xterra so it wasn't an issue.

Also, where do you guys keep your winch controller? My console isn't deep enough for it and my glove box is already full of stuff.

Drove the Jeep up to Harrisonburg and wheeled Union Springs and Dunkle Hollow with some buddies yesterday.

It's absolutely a blast to wheel. That 4:1 low takes some getting used to. I was running 3rd gear with the converter locked for a good bit of it.

E load tires are a bit stiff. I was running 12psi and you couldn't tell I let any air out

The LJ seems down on power and is throwing primary cat codes. I just ordered a full aFe exhaust system for it.

Will probably add a header later but right now I just want to hopefully help what could possibly be clogged cats and get me one step closer to turning off the CEL.

Gonna swap the rusted out oil pan while the exhaust is off as well.
