The dreaded front shock bolt

I'm trying to remove the top bolts for the front shocked. I've tried mulitple wrenches to hold either the top or the shock post. I felt like I got a little movement on both sides but that's it. I've been soaking in Kroil for weeks now. Tried heating it. Tried vise grip plyers, pipe wrench, crescent wrench. Nadda.

What is my next move?

I ran into some very seized bolts for the skid plate/frame.

Normal penetrating oil did nothing.... but i found that the penetrating oil that freezes the bolt worked miracles.

I think it uses liquid nitrogen... and cause the bolt to contract due to cold. During the contraction... the oil creeps deeper into the area.

Cutting also works for this scenario.

I know that's probably not what you want to hear but sounds like you've exhausted all your options. Think of it as an excuse to upgrade the shocks!

Breaker bar with a cheater pipe? Or just cut it off

Vise grips, heat, and air impact.
Or screw it, 4" cut off wheel.

Shocks are not that strong, grab it at the axle end and snap it.

I cut them off. Didn’t want to risk bending the bracket.

Like everyone has said, cut it.
Are you using two pairs of vice-grips (one on the nut, and the other on the post)? That’s usually all it takes.

I ground down each side of the shaft and put a wrench on it

Just grab the shock shaft up high with vice grips. Then either a wrench, or if you already mangled the nut, another set of vice grips. If the shaft still spins a bit just grind a flat side onto the shaft to give the vice grips a good purchase.
