TJ staring issues: fuel delivery problem?

Here is the situation: 2005 Rubicon

The issue I'm having is I have replaced the fuel pump due to not working. I'm getting fuel to what appears to be some type of vacuum sensor however it is not in the repair manual. Vehicle will run if I put starter fluid in the intake and then it will cut off which lets me know that is not a mechanical issue or a sensor issue. But a fuel delivery problem that is occurring somewhere in the engine compartment area. However I do not know where to go from now because the part that the fuel line goes into is it's not in the repair manual. If anyone can provide any help I would greatly appreciate it.

When you replaced the fuel pump. Did you replace the entire unit, fuel pump with sending unit?

I only replaced the pump.

Can't say that it is a clogged line because I blew the lines out with air.

I would see if you are getting fuel to the part you are talking about. Could unhook the hose and place it in bottle/bucket and prime the fuel pump. If youre not getting fuel there, you know your issue is further back. I am new to jeeps so I am not sure about what all is between the pump and the injectors, but I would assume a process of elimination would be best place to start here. Recently had to do something similar on my truck.

Billy that is kind of what I have been doing. I replaced the pump, then went to the line that goes to the engine but in the picture I have no clue what that is.

The is only one that comes off the rail. When I trace it back it goes into vent portion of the tank. I think if I could find a fuel schematic, I will be good.

Do you have fuel pressure at the injector rail? Are your injectors working properly?

I am not getting anything to the rail at all. Some part of me thinks that my supply is on my return line. That is why I need a schematic to verify.

Can you hear the pump prime when you turn the key to the on position?

Your supply line at the pump has the plastic clip on it that holds and locks it to the pump. The return line just slides over the smaller line. Did you check your fuel pump relay?

Fuel pump is running, I have a straight line from the fuel pump that runs in that black cynlinder part, that has a line that comes off to go into the side of the air intake. Then I have a line that comes from the rail straight to the fuel take on the passenger side that appears to be a return spot. The confusing thing to me is if this is correct, I might have the line swapped when I put them back on after the field pump replacement. That doesn't answer the question if that is true, how did the vehicle still run after the replacement of the fuel pump?

Mine is an 03 so it may be different. That said it has one fuel line to the fuel rail and injectors. Pressure relief and return is in the tank. Disconnect fuel line at rail and turn ignition on. Fuel? Yes good. No check fuse (23) and fuel pump relay. I jumped the relay to prime the fuel line. Pin 30 to pin 87. That gave 12v to the pump independent from the auto shutdown relay. Download a FSM and good luck.

Did you ever figure out the solution? I'm having the same diagnosis on my 2005.
