TJ stock front bumper question

I see a lot of TJ's with this stubby front bumper, it looks like the stock one just with the edges removed

Am I correct in assuming I can turn my current stock bumper into this, do the edges just bolt on/off or will I need to cut them away? Ideally I want to keep the original parts in stock form for resale one day.

state side we have the "milk" jugs as the end caps first pic- second pick is what it looks like with out. I wonder if under your cosmetic plastic if that bumper is not the same? you might just need to do a little exploration.

That looks really great. Need to figure out how to copy given I don't know how to weld or have welding equipment.

Thanks Jerry coming from you that means a lot- That’s exactly how it was done- And it was done by a guy that has just been a dear friend for decades, One of those people that you’re so glad you have in your life.

I really love the look of the aluminum bumpers but I’m not as crazy about aluminum with a white vehicle I think it looks so much better with the darker colors and reds.

Do you know if you have a similar stock bumper behind the those front fairings?
If so, you can leave it as is.
Or add flat plastic end caps for a more finished look.
Or modify it more by cutting it shorter, the stubby look.

True. Trying to achieve the stubby/ mid width without buying a new bumper only up have to rethink my flat tow setup that's worked so well.

May just cut the ends down 3-4", replicate the OEM angles and reuse the angled end caps. That (and a fresh coat of paint) should do the trick.

What did your final width end up at?

I’m in the house now and the Jeeps in the shed at my in laws- glad to measure in the a.m. - the angle starts at 1.5” from the pads if I remember right, those little factory oblong holes are a giveaway too- it 45’s back (I used a carpenters speed square) and the slant at the ends was due to the the bumpers stock dimensions- it was all done in a couple of hours- angle grinder and welder, while on the Jeep.
