TJ vs. a convertible car

I admit, since I had such a horrid experience with my '80 TR7 back in high school, I am so tempted to find one and build it correctly. Even now I take it very personally how often my ass was kicked by that thing.

Naturally aspirated lightweight modern V6 (original 4 pot was cast iron and heavier than most modern sixes)
Modern gearbox
InfinityBox wiring loom and modern electrical systems and interior lighting
Modern-ish rear suspension
Re-design the grotesque US spec bumpers
Modern HVAC

My mom drove one of these in yellow when I was younger, talk about a land yacht 129.5" wheel base and a sofa for a backseat. My TJ has a 93.5" WB

Departure angle not very good. But aired down and dc’d I bet it would float over forest service roads.

We had Buick Electras in my family, 455 cid. Cars had metal in them back then.

I had a beautiful TR-6 like that one in the mid-70's. A kid talked me into selling it to him and he totalled it a month or two later. I have been looking the past couple weeks for another since discovering my present Genesis may have wiring insulation issues like my previous BMW developed.

TR-6's are good quality sports cars, mine never had a single problem. I'd love to find another nice one like yours.

You know I read a lot of posts from guys saying things like what's the best lift kit for under $1,000 or I need to do this or that on a budget. Well I can now say that a lot of us you guys seam to be doing very well by the second cars you are showing on this post

No but we had them new for a few thousand miles and a few months..they all ran like clockwork,,unlike the Metro Turbos which blew their gearboxes aprt at 6k..lost two that way..
