TJ won't start

My 03 rubicon won't crank. Battery is good, starter is good I can use a screw driver on the solenoid to the hot wire and it will crank. I've replaced the ignition switch and still no luck.
Anyone got any ideas

Well I switched it with another like relay and no difference. Thanks for the suggestion

Did you switch it with a known working circuit relay? What if someone switched it like you did and never removed the bad one. Just trying to eliminate the easier things first.

Ok im going to post a video that explains the ignition actuator. It does a better job than i can. If this is the part you swapped or you looked at and its good. I would look at either the neutral safety switch (auto) or the clutch safety switch. There is a way to defeat the clutch safety switch in the fuse panel behind the glove box.

From the video, once the ignition switch is dropped, but left connected, and the actuator removed, you can start the Jeep with a screw driver. No key required.

Amazingly, you must go after market for that part, ie Dorman, NAPA, Jeep only sells that $70? part with a new $1K steering column.

It's been my experience if you bypass the solenoid and it starts but won't otherwise it's a bad solenoid which in this case is on the starter. Replace starter.

Had the exact same issue on mine several months back, but I was able to get a replacement at AutoZone for closer to $40.

Those pins are crap, but at least it's an easy fix and very clear to identify if it is the problem.

Just be sure to be careful unscrewing things if you check for this. The small springs can launch screws and small pieces around your cab if you don't hold them tight while removing them.
