Hello all! I searched for this but can't seem to find it. Not even in my FSM! I looked in the engine bay the other day and the top hose on my evap canister is not... there! Does anyone know what it connects to?
That makes me think about all the various vac hoses under my hood. I’ve replaced a few but I want to do them all, it’s a 97 TJ SE and I imagine some are getting brittle. Is there a comprehensive list somewhere or should I just brute force my way through the pages of the manual?
I feel so dense right now. Went to go look for it as all the other canister pics I've seen only had the two hose outlets. Went to pull on it and it has split and fallen off the top nipple. Duh. Thanks for all the help!
I know this is a old post but just in case it comes up again like it has for me. This larger port is the vent for the charcoal canister. On some earlier years this is open and vents directly to the air. Sometimes there is a domed vent cap in place sometimes nothing. Our 1997 has a cap and our 2002 does not. I have seen 2002 models with a hose attached also. When there is a hose it leads to a "Leak Detection Pump (LDP)" that controls venting. I think it just depends on the emissions rules in place at the time of manufacture.
