Who removed the insulation from their hood? Mine is in bad condition and I'm thinking about tossing it out.

Threw mine out and sprayed it with Lizard Skin sound deadener.

Does that Lizard Skin do pretty good as a sound deadener?

As well as any of the other spray on that I have used.

Gotcha! Mine didn't come with any underhood insulation so I'll need to do this.

Mine doesn't have it either but I have definitely seen a TJ hood with what sure looked like factory insulation. I dunno what package would include it, I wish my TJ had it.

I kind of wish mine had it and have thought about it in the past, and this thread made me re think it. Then I thought about it possibly holding moisture, salt, dirt, and makes me wonder if it would cause premature hood rusting

Hmm, and I wonder if it would even make any difference in regard to engine noise.

Has anyone looked at the factory part diagrams to see if it actually exists as an OE part?

That's really odd. Maybe it was some sort of factory accessory as well. I guess it doesn't matter since it's not in production and therefore your only option would be a used one (probably in crappy condition) or maybe new old stock.

Seems like this is a gray area with Wranglers. Mine has the factory under hood insulation, but I'll probably be removing it since it's in really bad shape.

I wonder if this was an option or what.
