Underhood light bulb replacement

Can you replace the bulb or do you have to replace the assembly?
I dont see hiw to access the bulb, which i can see is broken, without possibly breakinh the plastic light housing

If you have to replace the assembly does anyone have a part number?

Just use your fingernail or small screwdriver to get under the edge of the lens. It pops out with a little pressure. New Dormans are under $10 if the lens is brittle and cracks.

They have them on flea bay also but I think I paid quite a bit more than $10. I put led bulbs in mine.

I don't remember the details but there is a mod to use a GM(?) underhood light. It detaches and has a retractable cord.

The broken bulb reminds me of the time I power washed the engine bay and the water on the hot bulb caused the bulb to crack. That was my lesson in how to open the housing to replace the bulb.

When I converted the under hood light I removed existing bulb and installed a circuit board with approximately 24 LEDs and continued to use the internal tilt switch to turn the lights off/on. The circuit board with LEDs cost approximately $3.50 and does a good job of lighting up the engine bay.
