My $9 remote does run about 1 second after spooling in. I have not done any technical winching where the extra second matters. I have not noticed overrun winching out.
People naturally adapt to delay changes in everyday life. Like sitting at a stoplight and adapting to the various delays in acceleration response when stomping on the gas. There is an adjustment time when our brains learn the new response as we move from car to car. My Warn Winch is so fast that when I let off the control it continues to spool briefly before the brake stops it. At first it surprised me. I have adjusted now and know when to release the button.

I have the newest M8274 winch (10k, not 8k), which has a very fast motor on it. I also have this remote (#90287):
While my build is nowhere near done, so I haven't really used this setup in the field, I did notice while winding the line that the wireless remote has a considerable delay compared to the wired remote. I don't know how much it will affect field use, but there is a delay with the fast speeds of the M8274.

I’m sure the add-on remotes have a bit of delay, in fact on my quad I have it hard wired and a remote and it’s an obvious delay, but the Warn Zeon Platinum Remote has no discernible delay and the ability to work the winch from anywhere and not be tethered to the vehicle is a game changer.
I just installed cabinets in a fire lookout tower, ask me how I got them up there.
Last Saturday's offroad trip convinced me that wireless will not be the way for me. A Jeep lost reverse going over an obstacle, and needed to be winched back up the hill to set aside for the return trip. The guy winching had a Warn winch with wireless... he could not be in the cab of his jeep to operate the winch, there was no control, as it was sporadic. Maybe the radios or some other electronic device was interrupting the signal, but too much risk there. The winch remote operated just fine outside the Jeep, and we got the Jeep off the trail.

I have that same remote and it ran $100 when I bought it last year. There is a very slight delay but it really isn't a biggie to me. I like the ability to plug it into somebody else's winch to control their pull if they are inexperienced. Plus it allows me to be farther away from the winch. I used it a lot this and last year to pull trees and run my snow plow. I can imagine while on an obstacle, having it my hand would be nice versus having to reach to the dash to flip the toggle. I guess it's personal preference. And as far as re-syncing, it's not that....it's simply turning it on. Auto off is a nice feature compared to finding a dead remote because you forgot to turn it off.
