Was half doors an option?

There's a ton of traffic here, which makes me glad I have an auto. I'm sure I wouldn't mind if I was out in the country more, but here in the city a manual is a bitch in traffic!

strangle almost all of the wranglers over here were spec'ed with 3.07 Dana 44 axles. is the 3.07 a mileage thing ?

yes, my YJ with a carb came with the 3.07 and the dreaded Puegot 5 speed.... BUT with 33s it delivers 25mpg on the USA Interstates.... at 75mph !!! 3.07/33s... I NEVER used 5th gear. But I sold it with 300K miles.... second 258, second transfer case but original Tranny, original diffs.

Honestly, 4LO with the 3.07s on a forestry road was like driving a race car. 3rd gear up to the summit, lookout tower, 2nd gear back down. Depending on your use.... nothing wrong with 3.07s. Absolute blast !! Never shift... never need the brakes.

most wranglers are manual in the uk ... well we all learn to drive manual here, its usually woman and old people who purchase auto's

Plus it's fun learning to shift with your left hand.

Most Wranglers in the Puget Sound Basin are manuals too.

I thought the 3.07 was standard for auto and 3.73 was standard for manual.

no, if anything it would be the other way around. Growing up thru the 60s, 70s, 80s.... an automatic always came with the higher ratio. My first TramsAm, '70 4speed, 4.10. My second, '75 automatic, 2.72.

If you had to drive more than 10 miles... you wanted the '75.
If you only wanted to drive a quarter mile.... the '70 was king,

Considering mine came with the 3.73 and the manual, I think you'd have a better understanding of why if you knew the final drive ratio of each tranny.

The axle ratio found on new Jeeps is up to and selected by the dealer. The problem is not all dealer employees know what they are doing when they select the various options available to them, like axle ratios, when ordering their new Jeeps to sell.

Isn't it scary. Jeep lets fools order the products they sell. With no training, no skill, no knowledge. You'd think a big Corporation like Jeep could do better.

When I ordered the Dana 44 and Canyon wheel/Gas shock upgrade, manual trans, the axle ratio was automatically 3.73. This was Dec. 31 2000.

Track-lock was extra.

In 98, Track-Lock was standard on the Dana 44 upgrade.



The 2.5 liter was an option on the Sport too.

It doesn't matter with the new JKs since I would say 90% of them get sold to soccer mom's and families who just want a 'cool' SUV... Haha

Sorry to drag up an old thread but I have an 06 LJ deep beryl green. I was wondering if anybody knew if half doors were ever an option for this color? I have yet to see one so if they were, I assume they are extremely rare!
