What did you do to your TJ today?

@AndyG,
When I installed the Zone 4.25" lift on my Rubicon, nothing else needed to be done for the angles. Some say I got lucky, but after having 12 TJs through the years that I lifted, I doubt it. My luck isn't that good. After 3 years, still no vibes or issues with it.

Usually you can dial out vibes from 3.5-4" of lift without changing shafts...even my driveline specialist said that.

If it works it works.

I had the magic combination of angles that I was on the mechanical limits of the stock shaft, which suprised me.

It may be the combination of more lift In the back than front (1")
long arm geometry and a dropped transfer case. Either way it wasn't going to smooth out enough to satisfy me. Even through in a new Spicer rear joint to be on the safe side, although the shaft was rebuilt with forged Spicer's 25k miles back and it has 56,000 miles overall.

I knew that on the average the less angle you are better off overall as far as durability and vibes with less angle , so I decided to quit fighting it and change direction.

There is some truism to the statement that even stock vehicles vary slightly...and surely different lifts vary.

I was very careful but couldn't dial it out after the new springs.

My 2.5" lifted Rubi has stock arms, is out 5 degrees and doesn't vibe.

Textbook angles on TJs just get you close is what one local shop says.

I previously posted a pic of a brace that I installed tying the top tailgate hinge to the rollbar. Yesterday I drilled out the center bolt for the tire carrier (which had all the welds reinforced) and ran a bolt through to the inside of the tailgate where it is tied to a piece of 3/16 stock to reinforce the tailgate some more. This is my attempt to avoid having to spend a bunch of money on a MORryde package. I have 33's so I think I would be OK, as I don't do rock crawling, mainly just old mining roads, etc. All that is left to do is to clean up the bumper where we removed the swing out tire carrier and repaint it.

Attempted to enjoy open air driving and the fall foliage, but the LJ had different plans. Went to start it and the gauges were freaking out and the Jeep made some never heard before sounds. Thought the PCM bit the dust. I pulled the battery and hooked it to the tester- 1% charge, so on to the charger it goes. For sanity, I moved the new battery I bought for my Outback last week. . . Jeep roared to life. Phew. Still managed to run errands in the open air, but at least the Jeep electronics are ok. . . for now.

Today I put the TJ back on the ground with the lift. Waiting on a new rear track bar to finalize the suspension. Removed the Rubicon lockers and will finish relocating them to the engine bay tomorrow. With the pumps out of the way I dropped the shovel in preparation for a Savvy Tummy tuck.

I finally got around to building my hardtop dolly today! I just have a few finishing touches left.

I have to wheel it over some mulch and river rock to store it on the side of my house, so I got some big 8" solid rubber casters for it. I used treated lumber since it will live outside.

Took care of that POS SWR meter:

Then finally got this installed:

And it BARELY fits - this video demonstrates fitment:

It needs an inline amp added as well. I have one, but need to get it wired/prepped, not a plug in solution. Why do CB radios with a PA feature never have enough power? 7 watts speaker power for a PA is ridiculous...

Rear main, timing set, water pump, thermostat and housing, radiator, intake and exhaust manifold gasket and another front pinion seal......(and all new hoses).....job.

Timing chain was as loose as I expected. Plastic guide was broken also. Oil pan bolts did not seem very tight. Someone has been in it before, since it had a blue Felpro gasket on the pan. Front cover bolts were definitely loose. Fender came off easy. 2 bolts where the cat assembly bolt to the pipe broke. So, not too bad.
