What did you do to your TJ today?

It does if you put down the stuff I did before the carpet went in.

Do tell? Pam cooking spray to help it slide out? I unsnapped mine and pulled it out in 10 minutes to spray it at the car wash weekly when I used to like mud. I never even loosened the console like some videos show. It slides right under it. 🤫

I stripped everything out of the interior and covered the floor with this and aluminum tape on all seams . No heat comes up and a lot of noise is stopped.
Pretty much no way to do this like I did without taking everything out ..... just putting in new carpet Yes ! I am glad I went to the trouble , would do again !

Let's start a fire here, Metalcloak. These were only purchased from MC because Savvy doesn't have them and can't say when they will. If this is something you're looking at, wait for the next holiday, when they'll be 10% off. The only negative thing I can say so far is that they etch their "M" into the aluminum housing. Time will tell if the lenses hold up though.

I had money down on savvys and after 4 months of them holding my cash I got it back,I had to buy these until savvy (if they ever get them back)so I could mount a Jerry can, they seem to be good so far,but ya,what’s up with the BIG M on the sides?

Yes true but Im putting down sound deadener as well.... the whole tub.

You will be glad you did it is noticeable to me and every bit helps . What I put in keeps the heat out but does help with the exhaust drone too , really nice below 45 around town .

Sorry I didn't take pictures I was in a hurry at the time to get it ready for my trip to Tenn. in Aug. , I will try and pull back some of the carpet and snap a peek picture or two Sunday .

Ok. Just wanted to know what it is and where you got it. Thanks

I have been working on my kid's 2005, 4.0, auto. He is finishing his last year at college and left the jeep here for the last month. This is actually the last two days, so sort of a violation of this thread.

Removed and greased the steering shaft bearing. Thanks to @Irun for guidance. The bearing was completely dry. Steering feels a lot smoother now.

Then fixed a leaking wheel cylinder...thanks to @mrblaine for his expertise with properly bleeding brakes.

Also replaced all four shocks and front end links. Thanks to @taylormade73 for teaching me how to properly size a shock for my kid's specific jeep based on the shock's collapsed length, extended length, range and mid-point of travel. Prior to his help, I would have just looked at the manufacturer's recommendation for shocks within a given lift height and gone with it, maybe installing the right shock, but most likely not the optimal one.

To me, these maintenance items and upgrades are a testament to the strength of this forum. I've never owned another automobile where this kind of knowledge and willingness to share it has been so prevalent. I am not a master mechanic, but I am getting better and I would not own a jeep if I had to take it to a repair shop for every item it needed.

Thanks, guys.

The Jeep started fine early this morning with no indications (slow crank or dim lights) of what was to come....
Drove to Walmart this morning to do some food shopping before the store was too busy.
While getting into the Jeep to drive home; I observed the interior lights and odometer were pulsing dimly and the gauges were none responsive when I switched the ignition to the ON position. The Jeep starter would not even provide a tick, tick.
Tried to jump start the Jeep with my Anti Gravity Micro Start and found the battery pack swollen which meant it was useless.
Contacted my brother to provide a jump start; we made several attempts with increased engine speed, then running his car at an increased engine speed for about 10 minutes before making another attempt. Jeep finally started and I drove home with the voltage fluctuating 13.5-14.3V, but as soon as I shut off the Jeep the battery voltage dropped to 9.3 and continued to decrease below 8V.
It appears that at least one cell had gone bad and there was no chance of recharging so I used it as a core for the new battery.
I planned to replace the existing Interstate MT-34 purchased in 3/16 with a NorthStar X2 Power Premium AGM, but found out there were none available in all of Florida and the manufacturer does not have a availability date. I decided to purchase another Interstate MT-34 5 year battery since the present one had lasted so long (6.5 years).
