You're not wrong....and that's not necessarily judgement on anyone here who drives an auto gearbox. Based on what I see daily on the highways and byways of the People's Republic of Maryland, the basic act of operating a motor vehicle would appear to be too complicated. Disturbing...

When I broke my left leg quite thoroughly about 20 years ago, I thought my days of driving manual were over.

And they were indeed for about 10 years.

Now I'm back at the point where I can probably drive a manual full time, right when modern automatics are better than a manual

IT actually flows better air than the factory vent. I've asked the seller if he can make one without the ball for the passenger side. If not, I'll buy another for that side with a "right" ball and get a phone mount for the wife.

My phone does not move in the Bullet Point mount I attached to it. I've got a large phones (S24 Ultra) and it holds it firm.

Right on, thanks for that. One on the way. I have the Bullet Point and had to use the tablet holder to keep my 23S Ultra from bouncing out on the trail. this will be nice to regain the dash tray.

The vent has a flat piece on the bottom that keeps it from rotating. It is very tight to get in. I asked the seller if he could make one without the ball for the passenger side. One so they'd match, but more importantly his vent flows better air through it than the factory vent on the passenger side.

The ball on the vent mount is a 1". The Bullet Point 1" adapter doesn't fit it well. I'm using one of the BP 20mm.

If you've never been to India, driving there is what I can only describe as "an experience." The thought that somebody could learn to drive there and then come here and suddenly be bound by even a single rule of the road is comical. On the other hand, if I drove over there I would never get anywhere because I struggle with things like "driving into oncoming traffic" which is over there is basically just a Tuesday.

So I tend to view lousy drivers through the lens of what it's like where they are from. It doesn't stop me from wanting to go full road rage, but at least I understand why they suck out loud.

Not really "better" from a fun to drive perspective.

When I was looking for a TJ I only wanted a manual.

Modern autos are "better" in the sense that they are better performing than a manual.

It used to be that a manual transmission car was faster and got better MPG than the equivalent vehicle with an auto.

Nowadays that's reversed, with the fastest and best MPG versions always being auto.

Mustang, Camaro, Corvette, all are faster with the auto.

You can't even buy a new Ferrari with a manual as they are 100% automatic now, though they use a dual-clutch auto that's a kinda-sorta manual.

It's joked about now, but in a few more years the manual transmission might actually be considered a bona fide theft deterrent.

Yesterday I changed the oil in the TJ and went ahead and replaced the TPS with an Echlin I had sitting around for the last year or so. I'd been getting a TPS code every now and then along with a small evap leak code. On cold startup, I have a high idle situation and was thinking the TPS would solve it. It didn't. Time will only tell if the code comes back. Going to make a thread about the idle issue.

Started on porting my head specifically the exhaust valves first
Probably won't do much work on the bowls since they're already pretty smooth from Clearwater and

admittedly I really don't know what I'm doing! I just know that I shouldn't be touching the floor of the ports mainly the roofs which makes sense to me in a airflow standpoint
Any pointers are&will be appreciated !

New bumper from Quadratec. Those bottom bolts are fucking TIGHT after 21 years in the salt. Top ones came out with a 1/2" rachet. Bottom was breaker bar and a pipe.

Now for some input; 31's or regear and run 33's? 2.5" lift. 2.4 5 speed on factory 4.10's.

Added sound deadening to my LJ cargo area. Found it useful to put lines on the paper and work in strips.
