Clay bar isn’t that hard to do yourself if you’ve never done it. I did my jeep(the few stock painted panels that remain) and it was pretty straight forward. I used the Mothers kit from advance that was maybe 20-25 bucks. When I purchased my '01 the cowl clear coat was pealing badly and the sun had destroyed to base color.....
Since moving to Florida I made friends with a father & son at a local high end Auto Body shop.
Talked with both of them and worked a deal to get the cowl stripped, any metal prep performed, primed, painted. clear coated and baked.
During the process the son was texting me with progress updates.
I dropped off the cowl on the 19th and picked it up this morning.
The cowl looks so much better.....
Still need to get the remainder of the paint clay barred.

Hey Zorb is that a Gator bite just to the right of the tail pipe? Finally - after blathering on about it for almost a year, I got started on that rear bumper project:

Parts kit, with stock bumper in background...

3X3" standoff.

Runs up to the approx. centerline of the frame, the shackle D-rings will tie into this.
This originally was going to be a completely bolt together project, but I've decided to have it welded. I'll get the main bumper piece onto these mounts - and bolt them together with temporary 1/4" bolts, then take the assy down to the fab shop for welding. That way I *know* the damn thing fits, nothing is left to interpretation, and there are no mistakes. I just have to decide how wide I want the finished bumper to be - I'm going wide as this is a trail jeep, but will probably trim off a few inches from the 5 foot raw material. The bumper will be about 1/4" less in rear projection than stock, and I think about the same bit higher.
Hopefully, this won't take me another year to finish up!
No, its a rather poorly executed drain hole. I didn't have the right tool to slot it downwards, hence the ugliness. As its normally behind the bumper, I don't care...Hey Zorb is that a Gator bite just to the right of the tail pipe?
