What heat insulation for transmission tunnel?

I don't have carpet. The PO painted the floor and not with bed liner. On long trips the tranny tunnel will get so hot you will hurt your bare leg if it touches it.

If I remember correctly there is a sticker on the tranny tunnel under the carpet in mine warning not to remove the carpet for that reason. The carpet seems to do a pretty good job insulating. I definitely wouldn’t remove it without putting in something else to protect my feet. Maybe lizard skin

Does anyone think that radiant sheeting would help with the heat? (Link below)
Vegas roads are unforgiving when stuck in summer traffic. The shifter is able to get too hot for extended grip.
Installing bedrug later this week. I’ve read that will help to a degree.
Also read that the adhesive heat shield is a nightmare to remove if I ever choose that route.
Just trying to get the best outcome.

Thanks.

I'm not so sure what you showed in the link is made to handle the high temperature of a transmission. That sheeting has a plastic component.

You’re right. That wasn’t what I meant to send.
I was thinking just the foil barrier, not the bubble.

Don't fuck around with house products in a vehicle. I've watched two cars burn down because of guys doing that trying to save a buck. Use a product intended for that purpose.

After installing my Bedrug I pulled everything out again 8 months later and put down $60 worth of DEI stuff (was on sale). Well worth it in terms of noise. Hard to tell with heat since it's in the 90s and the top is off.

Seems like boom mat is marketed as sound deadener as opposed to heat shield. I need to solve this problem ahead of replacing the carpet in mine.

I have used Lizard Skin on a couple builds and it is real nice. Used it on the rat rod and my shoes no longer melt to the floor.
