What is this connector for

[old jeep new to me]

Tried to put up a picture but for some reason it says I have low memory on my phone. I was replacing my cigarette lighter so I had to take some of the dash apart and when I took the part with the lighter in it that also has 3 places for toggle switches (which I have none) I noticed that there is a wire connector connected to the right spot of the 3 toggles spaces. My Jeep is a 97 with soft top only and no A/C from the factory. Is this for fog lights or a dome light or what?

I have 2 of the 3 toggle switches the one on the right is for off road lights the one in the middle is for rear wiper and I just put in a rear defrost toggle switch for the one on the left

The factory provided some wiring in the basic wiring harness on all Jeeps so you have only partial wiring for the fog, rear wiper and rear defrost. Some came with the fog light connectors up front and the harness for the rear view mirror but if it came without a hardtop then there is no harness for the rear.

Thanks for the response, are your toggles factory or added later. I thought if it's something I could use and it's already wired than maybe I will add something.

the off road lights and rear wiper are stock the other I put in myself ...I had a hard top with no rear defrost.....broke my back Glass on accident decided to buy new one with defrost and wired a toggle switch in place of the factory one that wasn't being used

The only wiring you have a chance at would be the front fog lights and I doubt the harness connectors exists up front on your 97'.

That connector is for factory fog lights. In 2001 Jeep integrated the fog lights into the multifunction switch. Everything 97-00 had a rocker switch like the picture @gatertamer posted above.

If you had the switches, defrost would be far left, rear wiper in the middle, and fog lights on the far right. So lucky you, you have wiring ready for factory fog lights.
