Whats my Flooded LJ Worth

My flooded LJ is going to go up for auction next week and wanted to get some input as to what you guys think its worth as I might try to buy it back. The details I have are 72K miles, tires are brand new, 1 of the 4 rims is bent from a previous encounter with nature, soft top frame is near the end of its usable life, engine does not start, upgraded speakers to Sony all around (about a $200 investment), all electronic components within the vehicle work.

I don't know... I suppose you could work backwards into a price. I mean take it's undamaged FMV, subtract out those items needed to get back to an undamaged condition (including labor) and you wind up with the current market value...give or take. My guess would be in the 5 to 7 range.

Okay, I'm thinking 5-7k since you'd need a new engine, probably a new transmission, and you may run into other things as well.

the block should still be good if nothing is bent( if plugs were taken out before someone tryed to turn it over) it should only need oil changed. the engine problem isn't an engine problem it is a electrical problem.A friend put his through the ice we got the jeep out took plugs out turned engine over pushed out water changed oil and brain jeep still runs like a raped ape

If its hydrolocked and wasn't running when it locked, you should be able to save it. I had an incident with my boat a couple years ago, where one of the cylinders filled with water while sitting in my driveway. It wouldn't turn over. So, I pulled the plugs, cranked the engine to blow the water out, sprayed a bunch of WD-40 in there (WD stands for water displacing...one of the few things its good for). Changed the oil, and fired it up. Turned the remaining water into steam! Still runs great to this day.

If the insurance co totaled it for a flood, remember that it will be on the title that way. You'll probably NEVER be able to sell it for anything resembling a good price. The guys at the auction will be bidding on it for parts. I bet you can get it for 5k...but it will be yours forever at that point. I'd much rather buy an accident repair than a flood salvage.

I think the OP needs to provide more info on what "My flooded LJ" was subjected to.
Did you drive it into deep water crossing and sucked water through the air intake?
Did you pull all the plugs to confirm that it is hydro-locked?
Did the trans end up underwater too?

I am surprised you could not have bought it back from the insurance company at basically scrap value?

My guess is that since it was totaled it was running when water got into it. It's for sale in Asheville which is a good 6 hrs from the beach so unless they towed (toad ) it back to Asheville which I think unlikely, it is fresh water. You could rebuild the engine but cost for that is unknown until you open it up. I think I read on here that you can get a new reman for about 2K but the auto TM will need to be gone into as well. I would not be surprised that you would be 6K into it once you are finished so adding that to the 7 to 9K and you are back to around the FMV.

I don't think it was but it is also possible given the recent weather there that it was rain flood which changes things a bit. Again I don't think so since there is no mud in the interior. If it were me and I wanted it back I would change all the fluids (prob need to go into the diffs too), spray lube in the cyls and give it a crank. But its a pig in a poke.

snorkel tube might be nice but where is all of your vent hoses,gas tank filler way lower than your snorkel if a vehicle had been driven when it went in the water the heat will pull that water into it. the diff.,trans.motor what every it can
