Not sure how many are running the Torque app, be it on a double DIN radio or on your phone. If you are, what gauges do you display and what is your theme?

Sometimes I think I should just hardwire a no-service android phone behind the dash for this purpose. I'm iphone and don't see that changing any time soon.

I've got a cheap tablet I bought off Amazon...I removed my passenger air bag and have been looking for an articulating arm and tablet mount... something that can rest above the glove box when I have passengers but articulate out enough that I can position it for easy access when solo.

Was going to run either Torque or my Avenza mapping software.

Have you looked at Bulletpoint mounts? I have a couple and love them. Not sure if they have a tablet mount.

Yup and I have two. One for my phone and one for my GMRS handset. The phone slides out occasionally on bumpy roads and good bumps. I actually had to put a shorter arm in the phone holder to keep it from oscillating too much...that and mesh drywall tape and JB weld to reinforce the corners of the center dash panel.

I want something that comes out a good 16" to 24" and has at least three arms and can hold a lightweight tablet rock steady on washboards aka corrugations.

Bonus points if it would lock the tablet up too so it was one more thing I didn't have to secure with the top off.

Does your current unit have CarPlay? I use OBD Fusion for some things and it works decent. May check it out and see if it has what you’re after. It’s a paid app if I remember right but minor in comparison to literally anything else for TJ’s 😂

I use my S24+ and a vgate ELM 327 bluetooth dongle I bought on Amazon. It has worked for years.

In my pickup, I typically watch coolant temps, cat temps, GPS speed and MAF. I already have a trans temp gauge on the dash.

But I have various screens. In addition to the one I mentioned above, I have screens with
-strictly 02 sensors,
-02 sensors, volts, intake temp, spd diff, fuel trims, timing, HP, throttle %
-HP, MPG, throttle %, revs, speed, fuel flow, coolant temps
-brake force, acceleration Gs,

What makes the OBD dongle better than generic ones?

In general? IDK. A buddy has the BlueDriver which is advertised pretty hard on Amazon. It seemed to need to reconnect all the time, that was my biggest complaint. My OBDLinkCX pretty much never drops, and is easy to re-connect & also move to different vehicles. IDK to what extent you can use different apps across different dongles, but I felt like the app for OBDLink was easier to use than whatever BlueDriver wanted us to use.

I'm sure other dongles work well too, and you'll likely prefer whatever you're already comfortable with.

The one I have from Amazon never drops connection to the ATOTO head unit. Just can't see dropping an extra $100 on it. That's why I asked. If it could bring in the oil pressure and fuel level into the app, I'd drop the cash on it.

Ever since I saw this in that other thread I headed down that rabbit hole.

Looking for a 7/9 inch tablet, a way/place to mount it and make it as simple to use as possible.

Not set up yet but it is on the list.
