Wheel diameter and airing down

I went from a15x8, 35" to a 17x8, 37" tires. I mainly wanted the extra 1" in rear diff. clearance.
Other Jeep and trailer?
Do you know if there has been any kind slime or other self-sealant in your tires?

We use the 2012 JKU and the Morris Mule Trailer for our camping and family trips. The TJ is new to me. I had the tires rotated since I bought it, but I don't know the history. I will take it to the tire shop.

What's most important, with regards to 35s, is being able to fit the Vanco BMB 17" big brake kit.



According to the Brake Wizard, not enough to matter and the MT/R in 17" wheel variety is still available in load range C. I made the mistake of going with a 15" wheel for my MT/R 35s.

I certainly don't believe my choice of 15" wheels to have been a mistake with my 35" MT/r tires and BMB Big Brake Kit. Far from it.

If I won the lottery and rebuilt the Jeep to handle bigger than 35"tires I'd go with 17" wheels. For my present 35's? Nah.

So you interpreted what @mrblaine said to be that it'd be a mistake to run 35s on 15" wheels? No matter how we use our Jeeps? Primarily offroad or primarily onroad? Hmmm.

I've been wondering about wheel size recently since I hope to move away from my current 16" wheels.

Which is more important, wheel size/side wall or the tire design? How much difference is there between a 35" Goodyear MTR mounted on a 15" or 17" wheel?

From what I have witnessed in an area where traction is imperative, there isn't enough difference to avoid the 17 if one's needs dictated a swap. I can't speak to other tires in a side x side comparison but I have been on the trails in JV with 15, 16, and 17" x 35"ish MT/Rks and saw more differences in erroneous air pressure than I did with rim diameter.

Not true with the older versions though. The 15's were far superior, squishy, but superior.

Blaine told me when he was building my LJ that I should have gone with the 17" wheels to fit the 17" big brake kit. Neither your name and usage nor anyone else's came up in the conversation.
