Wheel Runout ?

I am not sure if "runout " is the correct term. I had jeep off the ground on stands. Ran in 4 WD and checked the wheels. From the back of the jeep I could see the left rear wheel wobble in and out. The wheel itself is out of kilter...or bent...or something. I have 2 wheels like this. The worst one is 1/4" out. Drives good tho. Little vibe at road speed but nothing radical. What, if any, is the allowed "wobble" of a wheel and do you guys check for this occasionally ?

All wheel manufacturers have acceptable runout specs. As do tire manufacturers. Generally, The acceptable tolerance reduces as the wheel gets more expensive. Only true way to accurately measure is mount it to a wheel balance machine and mount a run out gauge.

None of this matters unless you have a vibration that bothers you. Eyeballing it while mounted to the vehicle isn’t an accurate depiction. Too many variables.
