Where do you keep your pistol?

Many people add seat risers. Would adding seat risers give enough room for the larger Tufffy box to fit with flip seats?
I don‘t think so. I just took a look at mine. The clearance problem with the flip seat is the tube that runs between the slides. You would have to raise the seat about 3 inches to clear that, and then the connections for the flip and slide mechanism would still have to be removed. I did see somewhere on the forum that someone had made the longer version of the box work with the flip seat - but I don‘t recall how he did it.

I also have the large LJ version of the behind the read seat Tuffy box. Now that thing holds a lot. As @Jerry Bransford stated above, those three boxes are all keyed alike - a nice feature going with the Tuffy stuff.
I've seen it before but can't seem to find it on the Tuffy website, pretty expensive as I remember.

This is my larger lock box, on loan from the Navy.

I have risers and the flip seat and the tuffy box barely fit.

Unfortunately I have the flip seat also. Where did you get your replacement seat bracket? Tuffy does not post the exact size details, just that it is 149 cubic inches. It’s cheap enough so I will get one in the short term until I find something better. My daily carry is a Springfield XD-40 subcompact so it’s pretty compact. I cherish having a CCW here in California, it’s not the easiest thing to get. My North Dakota CCW was a piece of cake.
Thanks for your responses.
I bought fixed seat risers from eBay. I never used the flip seat on the drivers side any way. The kid and dog don’t use it, and any adult size people can still flip the seat forward on the passenger side.

Tuffy makes 3 different underseat drawers for the TJ. The one for the flip seat for my model year seems too narrow to accommodate a full size pistol, which is why I went with the fixed risers and larger drawer.

No flip seat (97-06) #248

Interior Dimensions: 16 13/16” L x 7” W x 2 7/8” H (2 1/16” clearance under latch bracket)
...
Flip seat (97-02) #250
Exterior Dimensions: 12 13/16” L x 6” W x 3” H

Interior Dimensions: 12 3/8” L x 4 13/16” W x 2 1/2” H (1 13/16” clearance under latch bracket)
...
Flip seat (03-06) #251
Exterior Dimensions: 8 9/16” L x 7 3/16” W x 3 1/4” H

I avoid places that don't let me carry if it's at all possible. If I don't have any choice I goes in my Tuffy center console. That was actually the first upgrade I did.
That's what I've grown to appreciate about UT. Schools & everywhere else are fair game, & even if you are carrying some place that claims to be "gun free" the worst you'll get is trespassing, not a firearm violation. Federal property is still federal property, but everything else is pretty wide open.

I like the center console idea but it ups the cost quite a bit. I respect any place that doesn’t allow weapons so I just comply plus the state has a list also. I don’t want to loose my privilege to carry in Ca. Yes it is considered a privilege here not like Az next door or other states where it is a right. Don’t get me started down that road, it is what it is.

Will those work on a 05? It says up to 02.
Sorry, I have no experience with the 03-06 models, so I couldn't tell you if the bolts patterns are the same or can be made to work. There should be someone on here who can give you a better answer on that.

Bestop also used to make underseat locking drawers similar to tuffy but I have no experience with them.

ETA: I'd love a mount to keep a carbine handy for "out on the property" adventures.

I hope this isn’t a politically incorrect post.

I have a CCW. I need to figure out a way to secure my pistol when I go into an establishment that doesn’t allow them such as a bar. In my YJ I have a lock box that fits nice and secure with easy access in the center console. The YJ console is too small for anything. It should be big enough to hold a 1911 or equivalent.
Let's speak in hypothetical terms because I'm not going to tell you what to do....so let's talk about a friend.

If a friend thought or rather didn't think about this particular issue are they entering the establishment holding a sign up that says I have a pistol in this bar thank you very much!!??!!

Do you think all those people...friends....going into Red Lobster/OG/Applebee's are leaving their pistol out in the car?

If said friend had no ill intentions what's the problem? It's carrying concealed. Who will know? If a REAL Mayday ensued and said friend saved lives including ownself and friend's family including other patrons do you really think that friend will be cited for carrying in a bar?

The friend might not get the "lead in" story on MSNBC later that night (nor CNN) but who cares....the friend saved lives including their own.....

You know...speaking for and of a friend. 😎

I keep backups in the center console or in an overhead rack. My air compressor is under my seat and my fire extinguisher would make the under seat option a no go. Passenger side has the OEM jack.

Well here in the Peoples Republic of California your “friend” would be handcuffed and escorted directly to jail and stay there until such time the District Attorney decides what to do with them. The Cops have no choice in the matter, unfortunately. If your “friend” did the same thing in Arizona he would immediately be hailed as a hero. I’ve been reported on once when someone saw my bulge and what a shit show that was. Luckily I always have my permit with me and all was cool afterwards. Unfortunately my parents programmed me to always follow the rules. It’s my biggest fault.
