Which locker and gears? The great locker debate continues

Whats the down side to having 5.13 with 33’s?
I don't know if there is one.

Thanks that’s helpful seeing that. Doesn’t look like much difference.
What does the Colorado crew think about lockers and drivability from experience?

I've been daily driving selectables for over 110k miles. Off road, lockers should be early on the list of things to get done.

Well I guess I’m not in the middle of nowhere with an issue. Could be worse.
That’s what I’m trying to avoid. It sucks because it’s smoother than ever but I know there’s trouble lurking in there.
I’m thinking of going 4.88 or 5.13 with the arb rear. We will see.
Gotta get it ready for tj fest so it’s getting torn into. I’ll be damned to foul up that trip.

Thanks for all the reply’s!

I absolutely love the 5.13s when heading over our steep passes. I can take Loveland pass at 65mph. Similar to jjvw, I've been DD'ing mine with lockers for almost 100k now

I've been driving 5.13 on 33s for the past couple weeks while I was waiting for 35s to arrive. They came yesterday and after a drive in the mountains today I am really hoping that I'm not bummed as I enjoyed the getty-up of being a little overgeared. Home for me =7200'. Around town it doesn't both me because I'm rarely over 45mph. That said 5.13 &33s is a little much if you drive at highway speeds often. If 35s are ever a possibility error on lower ratio side, to echo others. If 33s were my ultimate goal 4.88 would be my choice for all around at my altitude.

FYI, I considered an E-Locker, but I didn't like the fact that they unlock if you reverse while locked, and they take anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 of a tire revolution to engage once the switch is flipped.
It's true, the E-Locker temporarily unlocks then locks again when changing direction (forward to reverse). It takes nowhere near 3/4 of a rotation though. I estimate mine take around 1/8 rotation to automatically lock back in. I can honestly say I've never noticed the temporary unlock when I was using the lockers. This characteristic is highly exaggerated by folks that haven't used E-lockers first hand.

I looked into e-lockers but decided based on endless discussions and opinions to go with the air locker. Since you have onboard air already, this would be easy. ARB is good, but at the recommendation of my local shop I went with the Yukon Zip air locker and I'm very happy with it so far.

Well, I’m thinking of replacing the trac lok with the Detroit truetrac, sticking with 3.73 for now. Long story short, regear and selectable locker later; maybe...
Anyone have experience with this setup? And if so, anything else I should upgrade; like shafts?

I'm an OX guy, have em front and rear, electric actuated cable.

No need to do an expensive job more than once. If there's a decent change you'll do a selectable later, do it now.

Id also do shafts and gears
