I just folded mine up to the front seats... Gives me the room I need for stuff and keeps it handy just in case I need to use it. But, honestly, it has been folded up for quite awhile.

I use mine as my two kids ride with us all the time. They are getting big now and haven't much room anymore. Has anyone ever tried moving the seat back toward the tail door to provide more leg room, sacrificing storage? I was thinking of doing this and replacing the bench seat with two nice bucket seats. What do you think?

Took it out and bolted this to the seat bracket mounts. Plenty of room for gear but it needs an organization system as what I'm looking for is always at the bottom.

I have an expensive Bestop back seat that is cream colored and doesn't match my black interior. With the nice wider back. Was going to just cover it with seat covers. But I'm going to take it out. And sell it. But I would prefer to sell or trade it for a nice condition black agate stock back seat 97-02. Just to have when we have passengers (rarely).

Can't wait to use the space better. Also going to take out my rear security gate box so I can properly throw groceries back there from the back. I do need the storage.

SO if anyone has a black agate back seat for the early model. I'd be very willing to trade or sell mine to buy yours.

The 1st thing I did when I bought mine was to remove the back seat. It is stored in the shed and will only go back on if I ever decide to sell.

Just wondering how many of you have ditched the rear seat in your TJ and why...I can't remember using mine as a seat for the last three years. Unless you count my two mutts sitting back there, which they rarely do...

Does ditching the JL back seat count too? I'd personally sell it, but hubby says to just keep it.

That's how I keep mine as well. I probably put it down no more than 5 times throughout the year.

For my JK the back seat was too clumsy and a pain to remove, so I only took it out for wheeling trips. I kept the TJ seat in because I kept my half door uppers behind the seat. After reading this thread and realizing no one ever sits in the back, I ditched the backseat. I was surprised at how light the seat is and how easily it comes out! Not sure why I never did this sooner because I was constantly folding the backseat forward to put stuff in the back...

My back seat now sits on a $10 harbor freight dolly in the garage. I just ended up buying a cheapo Rampage window bag to hold the uppers & windows in the Jeep when the top is down.

I keep mine folded up. I usually need more space than seating but I don't really want to pull it and replace it when we head to the lake on the weekends.

The most my backseats get used is if I throw my laptop, gym bag or lunch bag in the back seat on my way to and from work and the gym.

Here's my deal , rarely use it but will ride anyone , anywhere , anytime ..love to share the Jeep fun.

I forget you can "rumble " the back , except it crosses my mind like on Wednesday at 10 a.m at work on a roof or something when it doesn't matter .

My biggest hold back is my 33" spare is so heavy , my bumper /tire holder is clumsy ..pull the hitch pin tether ,then the pin, lift up , swing out . Too many steps .

I need to rethink that .
