Why complex computers in cars make me uneasy

Great topic. When bench racing an engine swap for my TJ, I always lean toward a 351 with a carb. The very talented mechanics I work with feel I am sadly misguided to not go with a 5.3 or 6.0. Their point being fuel injection is better for steep hills, changes in elevation etc. My point is I like simple things, that's what I grew up with. But, back to reality. Boys, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but when it comes to computers in vehicles you aint seen nothing yet.

wow rear hazards should run off the most basic circuit, ...love my gadgets but not a fan of having all the core systems and even basic ones plugged into an out dated android device. I want to use my own stereo, amp and speakers and drive manual, comfort for me stops at air condition, I dont need a back up camera or heated seats.

That's what I always used to love about my 75 MGB; there was nothing to working on it. My sister's old 68 Beetle was the same way.
