Why is my spare tire not centered under the third brake light?

That spare needs replacing its the original. DOT Code is 198

I believe the spare is offset to have better access to the tailgate latch.
When I raised mine and moved it back (for a bigger tire), I also centered it over the tire. IMO, it looked better that way.
I'd post a picture, but later I decided to remove it completely.

Brake light is centered, tire is not for access.

When you move the tire on the rim be sure to align the winged foot valve stem to reduce the amount of sun the valve stem gets.
