Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

When you weighing it?

I hope Thursday. They are going to be weighing peoples rigs at the Trail Jamboree so I hope I'll get a chance then. If not then sometime in a month or so. I'll drive it into town and take it to the CAT scale.

I've been eyeing some tools on Marketplace. Lots of big "mechanics" tool kits like 200-500 pieces for dirt cheap. Would be a good way to grab wrenches, watches, and sockets without having to spend a ton or raid my home tool box. Plan to get a couple tool rolls. But I'm definitely going into this one a little more comfortable knowing I'll be with some very experienced and competent guys.

Well I might have to get towed off the trail... So if I can repair your rig it might be a fair trade.

And I've got my Onboard Welder & Ready welder so can fix most things.

I missed where you are headed Rick?

Up to the Little Naches area. It's a little west/northwest of Yakima. There are a list of trails in the area. Here's a list of some.

Plan is Friday we're going to do the Shoestring trail. Then depending on how things are going I'm winging it... Then if the Jeep is still running Saturday and others are there I'll figure out what to do.

First trail name got cut off is Bald Mountain. This is the PNW4WDA Trail Jamboree list. There are more trails. Rimrock has a long list of trails.

Looks like a fun trip. Enjoy, post pics and may your rig perform flawlessly!

I'm a little confused by it calling Shoestring an 8-9 but saying most vehicles with oversized tires and open diffs can make it? OnX calls it a 4 lol

Not a lot of service where we'll be but once I'm home I'll be sure to post pictures.

Like many of these rating systems they are inaccurate many times. Also it USED to be a 7 IMO but lately it's more of a 4. Same with the Naches Pass trail.

In the 70's running the Shoestring was a 2-3 trip. And you used to be able to camp at the lake... Then some DRUNK idiots were driving their Jeeps into the lake so they closed it off.
And the Naches Pass trail was a 2 day trail back then. You can run it in 3-4 hours now.. Thank all the idiots who cut out the trees to fit their wide rig.

Hope that helps a little.

Edit: Time of year is also a factor. In April when the trail first opens back up to wheeled vehicles it can be a 8. I've spent 3 hours just winching everyone up one hill... When it's snotty it can be a LOAD of fun. I like it better then than now.

Mike,
I thought you knew about this run? I'm sorry if you didn't.. Would have been nice to see you again. We're not going until Friday... Mac is driving up Thursday...

I was driving all day, maybe I missed it. Did you take the jeep for a test drive?

I've had it out for a couple short test drives so far, No leaking so it might have just been air burping that first time.

I did not know. No time at present anyhow but sounds like a good time. Sorry I’ll miss it.

Wish you could of made it. We'll have to make plans for a Browns Camp run here sometime before winter.

I was just looking at some different apps I have (OnX, Badge of Honor/Trails Off-road) and the two BoH trails (Cedar Tree and Firebreak 5) in that general area look fun. And there's some other easier trails in the area. My son has been wanting to camp so maybe I load up the family and we hit those before it gets rainy. Of course I would let people on here know!

The trails there aren't long but yes they're fun. And there is a mix of harder and easier stuff.
