Just plug the numbers into Grimm Jeeper linked to above. It’s a lot of fun and educational.

Wouldn’t a tranny rebuild cost about $2k?

4.10 is about right for 35s

35" MTR
32rh/33.875"/3.07=2284rpm @ 75mph
32rh/33.875"/3.73=2775rpm @ 75mph
32rh/33.875"/4.10=3050rpm @ 75mph
32rh/33.875"/4.56=3392rpm @ 75mph
32rh/33.875"/4.88=3630rpm @ 75mph

It depends on the transmission and what you are having done to it. Also if you have someone do it or you tackle it yourself.

Th

That’s too high. But I never really get I over 60.

If you don't run it over 60 then I'd say you should be okay. Why the switch to an auto? And as JMT said it's still gunna cost to rebuild it first.

I just thought that was a good deal for a project down the road. But not with 4.88 gears I guess

Well autos are easer on tough trails and everyone thinks the 32 is a great trans. I’m just asking and learning. But not so sure now

If you don't drive above 60 MPH then you'd be fine. But yes not having an OD gear makes a huge difference in what gears you put into your axles.

@ 3000 RPM.s you'd be turning about 68 MPH.

I'll agree that auto trans are better suited for some types of wheeling. But I'd say you really need to ask yourself if it is worth it for the style and type of terrain you wheel on. If you have a buddy with a auto TJ ask to switch rigs for a trail run so you can see if you like it or not.

Edit: You also need to find out how much it will cost to rebuild and also what it would cost to swap it into your rig and then take all the information, cost/gearing/advantages/disadvantages and lay them out and then decide. Even if you put it into the corner of your garage for a year or two before you do anything with it.

IMO $200 is too much for a transmission that NEEDS to be overhauled. I'd offer $100 for it.

Jeeps came from the factory with 225/75R15 tires and 3.73 with that transmission (mine included). That’s 3510 at 75mph according to the grimmjeeper calculator.

If you drive your Jeep mostly then on the highway then it wouldn’t be ideal but not really a problem either. Great for the 90% of driving that is not on the highway.

Maybe I could buy the parts and do the rebuild myself ??

Yes you can. It requires a CLEAN work area and a few special tools sometimes. You just have to take your time as you do it. And have the transmission manual sitting in front of you.

I think back at all the times I was criticized for pushing 3k at 75mph. :)

Shows how little some know about these engines in our rigs. I ran my 2.5 at 4K a lot of the time and wasn't scared to take it above 5K either.

I'd buy it if I could get it for $100 and then try my hand at rebuilding it myself.
