I do like the way you guys think though. It "should" work this way. Pretty much we do math, charts, percentages, etc...as husbands to convince and humor ourselves though....

Safety.
1. Having more power on the freeway will allow you to avoid being stuck in a bad situation.
2. Having a lower crawl ratio will slow you down on the trail giving you more control of the jeep. This will keep you and your passengers out of harms way.
3. Going slower on the trail will also help you to avoid breaking additional parts. Which in turn will allow her to spend more money on (insert her favorite thing to buy here) instead of needing to buy replacement jeep parts.
The way I did it is bought her a Yukon that cost more than twice what my Jeep cost. And with my inheritance.Twice. I like the current one. She just rolls her eyes when I do shit to the Jeep. And she reminds me, "Bought it just for hunting, riiiight...?"

So you could look at it two ways; keep it as-is since Maui speeds are fairly low and there is little climbing at any significant speed; gear it deeper than the usual recommendation since the speeds there are on the low side.
