Winch Controller Upfront - Blocking Radiator?

After research some install the controller right on the winch upfront, while some do it under the hood. Just acquired a new bumper and was going to mount the winch on it with controller.

What I'm wondering how is it anything worthy to even consider or worry about how much the controller box would block the radiator when installed upfront vs. under engine bay?

I don't intend to run the winch controls inside the cabin but instead use a wireless controller for it.

Even a big winch up front is a non-factor for the cooling system A properly functioning cooling system won't even notice the presence of a winch, it has plenty of excess cooling capacity.

I have that exact bumper with the controls mounted in front of the radiator. No issues with temps at all.

X2. This isn't anything to be worried about at all.

I have an 8274, it's twice the height of a normal winch and it's fine. In fact I strongly recommend against putting the solinoid box under the hood. Heat is the enemy of electrical components. If you mount em under hood they will already be heat soaked before you even start to run the winch. Every solinoid failure I've ever seen on the trail was when someone had the box mounted under the hood minus one, and that was a doa on a brand new winch.

Wicked! Sounds good - it’s going upfront then.

Still tweaking the wiring and trying to keep it clean.

Oh yah, with your winch sunk down inside the bumper you have even less to worry about. My 8274 is starting on top and going up from there. Just make sure you use wire loom of some sort to avoid any shorts to the body over time. Looks sharp so far.
