Worst Advice Ever

Im guessing it’s 3.5, but really I don’t know. Maybe it’s 2.75? Who knows....but my TJ sits and rides / performs perfect. As everyone always states on this forum, “every Jeep is different”.
I actually have a problem understanding the statement that every Jeep is different.

Read it on many forums, including this one, if I’m not mistaken.

I know. I’ve read it too. It just does not seem to be logical (at least for me) to be honest.
 
Worst advice ? Scrambling eggs in a toaster didn’t work out good.

Jeep wise I’ve probably given more bad advice than I have received.

Locally, at tires shops, etc you hear some deusy’s.....(short from the car Deusenberg,no joke). Get long arms, more stabilizer,etc. It really is potluck down here if you go to just any shop and see what happens. We also have a few sharp guys like Cole at Cole’s auto repair.

Dangerous advice bugs me more.

Honestly I don’t let it sink in much, I trust what I’ve learned here, it’s proven to work for me .... I believe in good connections underneath, low psi, balanced tires, apple pie and the flag. And my buddies @Hog ,@SamwiseGamJeep, @John Cooper , and my dogs buddy and roscoe. And this lamp.

Spend about 3.8 seconds trying to design a product that uses any of the OEM mounting points and you figure out very quickly that holding a tolerance 'tis but a mere suggestion. The holes in the frame for the bumper vary at least 1/2" center to center so any product you make has to have holes or slots to compensate.

Shouldn't be that hard to put a hole in the center of a frame side body mount, right?

but for topics like shocks etc it should not be so complicated.
Ive read numerous times that the same shock would fit differently in every Jeep. I dont find this accurate. They should be claiming that the x shock would work good at this range (i.e 1.5-2” lift, 2.5”-3”, etc) and that springs would give each TJ a different actual lift (which is totally understandable).
I am not talking about companies, but for people suggesting things.

For example a front shock with compressed length 13.05”, and extended length 21.03” (7.98” travel) would be at nearly perfect 50 50 ratio at any TJ with ACTUAL lift of 1-1.5” lift. The way to get that 1-1.5” lift on the contrary would differ in every TJ (different engines, mods, in general weight)

Am I wrong on that?

You are not wrong but you are a bit optimistic. The reason I don't do numbers is they are not 100%, nor can they be. Far too many variables to say that X is true. I've seen and driven vibe free rigs with rear pinion angles set from 2 degrees low to 10 degrees high.

While I agree with the Redline comment. Whats up with the Penetrol? aside from the name making it sound like sex lube.... I've been using it on my hardtop for years.
Heavy rain washes it off and makes it run down the windows and paintwork leaving greasy run marks that are quite hard to get off!
