I don't recommend Harbor Freight often but their Pittsburg line of wrenches aren't too bad and are cost effective. Pick up a set of 7/16" to 1-1/4" SAE and a set of 8MMto 24MM Metric and you should be set. And don't forget to get a 20% off coupon before you go.

Yeah, some of their stuff is pretty good For the money. I’ve got a set of SAE Pittsburg wrenches that my dad bought me when I left home for the Air Force in 1987. The only problem I’ve had with them is my own fault. I was hammering on the open end of one of the mid range sized trying to get a stick but loose and broke off one of the sides of the open end. I’ve got a few crappy things from them for sure, but never had a problem with any of their wrenches.

So basically, every wrench you use on your rig for any reason?

More or less. So far that amount is much less bulk than carrying every single size wrench and socket. It hasn't made it to the list, but I do carry a socket for the pinon nut. I highly doubt I'll ever need it on the trail, but I know where it is.

Would you consider those organizer pouches useful to have or not worth the money?

I use a tool roll for the wrenches and a canvas bag for the sockets, handles, misc. Generally, I prefer multiple smaller soft bags over hard cases.

I promise you, your next repair will have a fastener you don't have a wrench for. You cursed yourself by asking. The Tool God will smite you. You will discover your Jeep fasteners have been all converted to Whitworth.

I watch this Jeep build on YouTube. Yesterday he was trying to loosen his adjustable control arms that were all seized up and used what he called his "Saskatchewan All 16ths Wrench"

Thank you for posting this. I was just thinking last night, while going through my pile of cast-off and neglected jeep parts, "I really need to make a list of tools for trail repair, so I don't have to haul this heavy toolbox around anymore." It will give me a head start!

One thing I didn't see on your list, though you have the wrench, is the brake caliper bolts. Those use a 12mm wrench. In order to pull axle shafts, you'll need to remove the calipers.
