Yukon differential drain plug

This might rank with the “stupid questions” but should you use teflon tape and/or pipe dope on a differential drain plug? My new Yukon diff cover (Dana 35) drain plug is dripping.
 
Sure, used teflon paste plenty of times

Good enough to seal natural gas lines,
good enough for a diff cover plug

Tape will work; it's not pressurized.
Did you try tightening it?

Mine did the same thing. Teflon paste didn't work. Had to use some Right Stuff. It's not tapered.

I've always used paste on the OEM Rubicon drain plugs on mine, no drips. They are pipe plugs, if yours aren't you might have to use RTV, etc.
