Sway bar mounts on both sides and upper control arm mount are toast

...

I've got a brain tickle about someone doing something bizarre with his front stock swaybar that caused a similar problem but I just can't recall the specifics. It was one of those "hey, what's causing this" type thing, lots of folks gave answers and then he came back and said never mind, I was being an idiot. Also didn't say what he was doing wrong.

The one I'm thinking of had the front sway bar catching the frame from below and not allowing the shocks to compress. And I think the front ride height was high.

Is it possible with the long shocks if you had stock length sway links it could have inverted the sway bar causing a lot of force to break the brackets and arm?

If it inverted and then got run into the front bumper on a large compression I could see that breaking mounts. I still can't think of what would cause the control arm to break like that.

that was the other thought.......... could the sway have gotten over in the bushings and got pinned and sheared.
could the passenger upper being disco'd have allowed the axle some odd movement that could have tugged the sway over to a spot the end could have gotten under the frame and pushed?

If that somehow happened, I would expect some kind of heavy scarring on the frame and on the sway bar.

I don't see it being square but there is very little making any sense here. Both broken sway bar link mounts point to a large problem.

So ,let me try and clarify the confusion I created 😂, just the control arm and the sway bar mount broke , opposite sides . Control arm on the passenger side the sway bar mount on the drivers . But the sway bar mount is cracked on the lpasanger side amd the control arm mount on the passenger side is collapsed . Sorry for the confusion

Yes sir !

I can get Pictures, they are stock
Did you measure your front springs to see what you actual lift is?
My guess, without see your rig, is that you may have inverted your sway bar causing a chain reaction. Of sorts.

Hmmm? Not sure about the sway bar inversion but I bought the springs all together as part of a lift kit

Agreed. But you would also think one would know “when” these parts broke as well. Looks like we will never know.

Well , I noticed the sway bar mount was broken weeks ago , disconnected the other one and kept driving it on the weekends up to the mountains, then noticed the control arm Sunday when we were getting ready to weld a new sway bar mount on ( unfortunately I bought one for a Dana 44 front axel ) and we noticed the other side sway bar mount was cracked . This all I can tell you , it’s a weekend ride some pavement mostly lots of trails . Sorry that’s all I know to tell ya folks,. Thanks for all the advice 😊

Where are you in Arkansas? Maybe someone local to you could stop by and take a look.

That is good info. It appeared as if it all had broken on the same trip, or at least that’s how I interpreted it. Makes a bit more sense now that the control arm and sway bar may not be related.

If we keep talking at it, we might convince it to fix itself because god knows ain't nothing else gonna work.
