Anti-Theft Recommendations

Just recovered my 2002 TJ Sport Soft top. While it is getting fixed, i want to install some anti-theft and tracking. Thieves popped the ignition.
Thinking a kill switch or something would be good. What do people recommend? As it is a soft top, pretty easy to access, but want to slow them down - i'm not sure an alarm would really make sense?

Also, what is good for tracking? Do Airtags work, or is there something better? Not trying to break the bank, but willing to spend the money to avoid the trouble in the future

Nothing will slow down a seasoned thief with a flatbed. They'll probably only want your gas in the coming months. Now, they're just drilling a hole in the gas tank. Siphoning is too slow and the Russian gas leaves a bad taste in their mouth.

If you aren't using the factory fog light switch, or don't have one, you can try to find a factory switch and wire it in as some type of kill switch for the starter or fuel pump. Not fool proof, but might slow someone down a bit and it's hidden in plain site

True, but these assholes stole it and drove it within a mile of my house before I tracked them down and recovered it. Obvs not gonna stop a flatbed, but in Seattle, you have a lot of tweakers and

The best security system for everything except a tow truck is the factory Sentry Key Immobilizer System (SKIS). If the SKIM isn't present you can add it, but there's a process to do so.

I have this tracker and it is fairly cheap and works. You can upgrade to constant live monitoring or use a lower level that tracks every 3 minutes

Anything that locks around or through the steering wheel can be defeated with a hacksaw to the steering wheel in under 30 seconds.

if mine even sits out in the driveway overnight, i disco the battery and/or pull the power plug to my fuel pump.

sad but if it starts and moves they'll drive right through the fence to get away with it. if they are tinkerin with tools to pull parts i should be able get a few shots off b4 they scatter.

Which won't help if they really want it. My previous TJ was winched up onto a flatbed truck when it was stolen 12 years ago right outside of my company's front door. A witness said they never tried to start it, he assumed it was going to a garage for repairs.

Yep,I did the off-road only magnetic kill switch,but if they want it bad enough,they will get it.

Here in my sleepy Chandler AZ neighborhood we've had several vehicles stolen the same way in the middle of the night. A neighbor down the street got a Genesis G80 stolen right out of their driveway this way. Their "ring" doorbell caught it all... We're about 4 miles from the closest reservation and that's where they found the car... or whats left of it.

for sure we had them torch though huge chains and cut a race car loose from a lift 1 night and drug it away.

Many's the nights I have laid in bed worrying about my covered TJ sitting out in the driveway and tried to come up with something really tough to get through. Usually it's hardened chains through my wheels but I haven't done that yet. Especially since they wouldn't prevent it from being dragged out backward by another flatbed tow truck's winch. My only saving grace is that I'm on a cul-de-sac on a cul-de-sac so I'm thinking the casual thief isn't likely to just drive by randomly or even figure out how to get up to where I live.
