What was your first vehicle?

My mom gave me her 1965 Rambler 660 station wagon when I was 17. My first car I bought myself was a new 1973 VW Super Beetle. $2395 off the showroom floor. My payments were $66/mo.

Sold my '65 Rambler 660 wagon a couple years ago. Used it as a daily driver for about 4 years, 61 miles a day. Still own a few Ramblers. Belonged to a local club for a dozen years, or so. Good times...

That thing was a tank. We bought it in 1965 new, drove it to Maine, used it there for three years, drove it back to Albuquerque in a blizzard @ - 65 degrees in January. My mom drove it until about 1972 when she handed it over to me, whereupon I drove it for another few years...loved the power rear window on the tailgate.

My first vehicle was a 1968 GTO and man did that thing go. I bought it for $800 in 1977, that was all they cost. Traded it straight across 2 years later for a 1965 International Scout with a 4 banger and a 3 speed. That thing would go anywhere. Traded the Scout straight across for a 1974 Bronco with a 302 and an automatic ... What a beast.

My Dad had one of those before I went in the service in 1968....I drove it quit a few time. I thought it was pretty cool with the push button automatic transmission on the dash.

A 1976 Oldsmobile Delta 88 in Buckskin tan with tan vinyl seats. It had a 350 and a 4 barrel carb. Whatever hadn't rotten off I'd wash and wax.

I sold our 2 year old Toyota extra cab 4X4 and replaced it with a '56 Plymouth Belvedere 2-door sedan, V8 with the PowerFlite (pushbutton auto) transmission as our daily driver. The wife was not amused...

That IS a good dash! Was it pretty zippy?

The Opel made you feel like you were flat flying around. Gas mileage in the low 30's. Flathead 1.1 liter four banger that refused to give up. Broke rear axles, tried different carbs on it, did lots of stuff playing around with it.

There cars I have always wanted, but never bought. An Opel GT, MGB-GT, and a Saab Sonet.

Are we related, or something? Drove a sharp Opel GT for a few months. My favorite MG is the MBG-GT, and I like the Saab Sonnet because it's so unusual. Tell me you like Jenson Interceptors, and I'm inviting you to our next family reunion!

As do I. Test drove three Interceptors. Had to inform the salesman as to what they were (he literally was taking notes!). Was going to trade my 4Runner in on one, until I found my son's car seat wouldn't fit in the back seat. Too bad, too. That Chrysler 440 really moved those cars! If you've never seen a Jensen GT, look it up. It's a wagon version of the roadster. Buddy of mine owned one. Rare car...

That's a funky looking little beast. Never seen one in person. I always thought that the Jensen-Healy roadsters were just the right size, and very pretty. Lotus engine too!
