Daily Driver, Go Where I Want To Build

Oh! And I found my Hello Kitty sticker and put it where it belongs.

Haha your sticker placement looks similar to how I placed mine.

i saw that crows foot for tire bead breakin, i think it was here probably long buried...i might like to have 1 of those on the trailer.

at home i got this crude POS bolted to the garage wall, it's usually buried but i had to get at it the other day so i shot a pic. nothin fancy but it works. and breaks down to be hidden again.

I replaced the rear main seal and oil pan gasket today. It was far easier than I expected and not unlike replacing the front inner axle seals. It's an easy job with a whole bunch of steps. I used Mopar for both. Hopefully it holds!

And I kind of fixed the exhaust. The muffler was removed and I fixed the hanger off of the transmission. Everything was welded.

This is still bad routing left over from before the shock outboard. But now the muffler isn't there to knock around.

The sound isn't awful. Cold startup is noisy. Warmed up idle is fairly quiet. Hard acceleration is noisy. Cruising is fairly quiet. I might still put in one of the bullet mufflers shown earlier sooner than later. But for now, this won't fall apart on me and several little vibes and clunks have been eliminated. Overall this is better.

My guess is that when people are asking for a mean throaty sounding exhaust for their TJ, this is what they want.

For some reason I thought you were running a rear AR sway bar. The stocker keeps up with the 12” shocks fine I see.

And this part is pretty exciting, I think. Those of us with short wheelbase TJ Rubicons with the Savvy mid arm know that removing the rear stiffener from the Savvy Under Armor is really difficult. This makes removing all of the Under Armor incredibly difficult.

A couple years ago, Blaine suggested replacing the seven Savvy crossmember nuts with speed nuts. That finally happened today and they solve the problem of the trapped skid perfectly. I can drop the entire skid now from below without removing the rear stiffener.

I did something weird. My reworked exhaust with no muffler from last weekend was too loud. So I bought a bunch of stainless steel scrubbie pads and a some stainless screen to make a muffler out of the hollowed out third cat.

A tube of paper was used to keep the middle of the cat shell open while I stuffed in a bunch of pads.

Then I inserted a tube of screen inside the paper tube to keep the pads in place and burned out the paper with alcohol and a torch.

Now the exhaust with my $15 homemade muffler is almost as quiet as my old Thrush Hush muffler was. This is exciting!

Oh snap! This is one of those things that makes me cuss like the sailor I was. Getting access to install several of the nuts pisses me off every time I have to remove the skid!
