Assuming you enjoy shifting, having the 5:1 will make you think you have a new jeep. If you can drive a rubicon with a 4:1 and a manual.... its amazing. Dancing with the clutch goes away. If I stopped on the steepest hill, with a massive rock on the tires, I could could pull my clutch while standing on the brake and start to push through my 15" bmb kit. Worst case I'd need to give my hand throttle a hair of rpm but I haven't needed to yet in first gear. The only time I stall is when I start in 3rd instead of first by mistake.
Having an auto jlur, full disclosure I don't do as crazy of things with the jl, the feeling I get is that having an auto requires you to regulate pushing the jeep up the rock while a manual is regulating you holding from climbing the same rock. I wheel manual more so I actually feel more comfortable in it.
An auto may provide infinite low first gear but you don't need infinite gears. If you did people would say 4:1 is more than enough or 10:1 is overkill. I'd absolutely love to drive
@Rescue6's jeep with 10:1 just to see what it's like but 5:1 is amazing.
Thinking about it I probably dont want to drives rescues jeep because then I'd want it
