How do you fix cupped tires?

I recently added a set of M/T take off tires that have a very slight bit of cupping on the tires that came off the front. I've balanced these and placed them on the rear. Having not run M/T tires on a daily driver for a while, I'm assuming that what I've done, along with lowering the tire pressure to 26 PSI, will result in them eventually evening out.

FWIW, these are a 255/75R17 Firestone Destination M/T2, coming from a JT, which are "C" rated. Is my thinking correct here?

Depending on how bad it is, you may want to get them shaved a little to smooth it out. If it’s not too bad, your method should help.

It's not bad, but there is enough to notice. Since lowering the tire pressure a couple weeks ago, it was originally at 34 lbs, I've already seen, and heard, a difference. I just wanted a sanity check that I wasn't missing something else. (y)

My tire guy said that once they cup...they generally don't get any better. He's not a guy to just say that to sell tires either. If I were going to try it, I'd try what you're doing...I might try some centramatics too.

Once cupped, it just gets worse not better. They were probably out of balance or bent wheel causing it to hop. Weird that they would both be cupped. What exactly is wrong with them, maybe when you say cupping you mean something else?

Having ran 3 different sets of MT's as a daily, there is no fixing the cupping. MT's are notorious for cupping when on pavement. You can minimize the cupping with periodic rotations.

I talked to a buddy, who had his own shop for years. He told me that if they're bad, tire shaving is the only fix. He also said that if they're not to far gone, to do what I did. He emphasized not leaving them on the front, because they won't get better there.

FWIW, I measured the high and low spots, and there isn't even 1/32 difference. If you run your hand across the tire, you feel it though. I like the idea of Centramatics. I remember a couple folks here running or trying the Centramatics. Will have to poke around a little and see what I can find.

My experience with M/Ts are dated, when it comes to daily driving, but are similar. I ran KM2s for several years, rotating, balancing, and keeping an eye on the alignment. They still cupped, eventually getting to a point where they were no longer safe to drive on the street. I'm pondering @Mike_H s suggestion on Centramatics. The problem is I'm seeing very mixed reviews. At $220 for a set, this isn't a trivial cost for what you get.

I'm running the centra-matics because tires shops struggle mightily getting a good balance on 35" M/T's. I'm hoping these will help "round out" the mfg tolerances and give me a good long life on my tires.

They work very well. I had a bad shimmy at 55 that is completely gone with the centramatics. Occasionally, I'll develop a bit of something in the wheel, but it always goes away within a few minutes. If you're on the fence and struggling with a good balance...I'd jump at it. I've not known you to be shy about spending money on your Jeep, either, Mr I'm running a hub kit on 31's!

I'm running JK wheels and I'm running them between the adapter and the wheel. I tried them behind the adapter, but brake caliper clearance is an issue.

I'm running these. They have a dual pattern, 5 x 5 and 5 x 4.5
