Started a 40 mile stretch of no fuel stations without looking at my gauge. Got lucky and made it with the lowest fuel indication I've seen since the only time I actually ran out of gas in about 2004. If I'd missed this station it was another 40 miles to the next.

It took 17.8 gallons to fill... So 1.2 remaining, less however much the fuel pump needs to actually pick it up, less any shortage in filling that might have occurred due to my burpy 2006 fuel tank. It was close.

You've got gas until the needle no longer touches the white on the letter "E" on my Jeep. I've put over 19 in twice and changed a fuel pump simply wiping the tank with a single paper towel, that one was really luck. I've made a picture that shows the levels and posted it a few times.

I’ve always lived on the east coast, where there’s a gas station on every corner and three in between. My first trip to California I found out there are some places going west that the gas stations are far far apart. I drove my jk and a tank of gas was used up after about three hundred miles. Made me watch real close for the next station.

Know about both, did the GM filler hose last year but it still does it about half the time (better than every time, but still not as fixed as I want it to be).

I'm just waiting for it to annoy me enough that I'll drop the tank to do it.

My 2000 chev express 3500 backflow doesn’t work well at all lol. Not sure if this is a great fix Ha

I tried both temporary fixes....swapping the GM hose with the OEM hose and pulling the flapper from the GM hose and putting it in the OEM hose. The first method didn't work very well for me, but the second has worked like a charm for years.

Good to know about the over 19. Sounds like maybe that's the real volume between full and out of gas, and not just a calculated volume of the tank.

Curious how you figured out the exact points for 25, 50, and 75%, other than a bunch of experimentation to find out where the line was when it took 4.75gal, 9.5 and 14.25 to fill up.

I've tracked every tank for about 10 years. I travel in areas where it's pretty important to know how much gas you have so I try to pay attention. A bunch of experimentation is a good way to put it. There's a gallon or so fill error every time depending on how the pump works so you kinda have to average it all out a bit.

You don't know what was halfway until the tank is finished...so you'd have to take photos every 10 miles until the end of it and then find where the needle was when the mileage was halfway.

Just looking at it- it looks like his 50 mark is right in the middle of his full and empty mark and his 25 and 75 marks are right in the middle of the empty/50 and 50/full marks.

Just looking at it- it looks like his 50 mark is right in the middle of his full and empty mark and his 25 and 75 marks are right in the middle of the empty/50 and 50/full marks.

Most people miss empty is off the red, full is way past full and 25% is real close to red. Nobody cares about 3/4.

Yeah I think you're right. I took it as implying Jeeps usual shenanigans with controlling their gauges to manipulate driver perception like they do with the coolant temp and oil pressure... But it actually looks pretty linear once you consider they completely missed on E and F.
