Hi all - I did a Google search and couldn’t find my answer. Thought I’d ask here. I have been reading about body mount vs frame mount sliders for TJ/LJ. I’ve been looking at some body mount rock rails that will suit my needs. This is my first TJ era Jeep (2005 LJ). I also have a JL and have had several JKs and I remember people with newer era Jeeps having a heck of a time trying to remove body mount bolts and ultimately snapping them because they’re supposedly installed using red Loctite or thread locker and folks are trying to remove them without heating them first.
When I searched, I found a ton about JL problems, but didn’t see anything that answered my question about TJ/LJ. Should I be concerned about removing the body mount bolts myself during the install? There’s no rust on them and it’s been a lower mileage 45k garaged LJ for its lifetime. I haven’t gotten under it and tried it with a breaker bar or anything yet - wanted to ask here first. I don’t have the capability to heat up bolts in my garage as-is.
I’ve wrenched most of the mods on my Jeeps DIY that utilize basic tools but I don’t have the advanced stuff or knowledge. Will I have problems with the body mount bolts?
Thanks in advance!
