Why would someone cut my air conditioning lines?

I bought this jeep used. In great shape. The previous owner said it didn’t have the factory ac. I have the slide HVAC controls with the cold symbol. I don’t have a AC condenser in front of the radiator. Just a compressor mount and idle pulley next to the mount. Why would some one go this far and cut the lines at the Evaporator? The Jeep is a 97

compressor probably seized and threw the belt or lost a charge from a leak or a puncture.

original owner probably took it in to a shop and was quoted the price for a replacement or repair and likely just cut it out. if you can do ac work on your own and know what your doing it can be done fairly somewhat cheap.. if not your gonna pull out alot of cash to have it diagnosed and repaired.. cheaper to just remove and cut it out.

Either they are an idiot, an a-hole, or cheap.

And that still does not solve your problem.

2000.....I have no idea what or if there is any difference between the years. I almost cut it out today just to get it in the trash!
