Compatible seat belts for TJ?

My seat belt retractor stopped working on passenger seat. Found part number for OEM but it's stupid expensive (part number P/N 5KK641X9AA) . Looked at a few places selling after market and a refurbished but would like to just go pull one from a junkyard. No one local has a TJ right now. Will an XJ, YJ, anything else, fit? Checked the treads before posting, couldn't find anything about compatible belts

Did you try the guys in Grand Junction ? I can't remember the site name, they had a post either here or in "Parts for Sale" about a parts delivery route they were taking soon. GJ to Denver, to Wyoming I think. I'll try and find it and post it to you. They have a ton of TJ parts out there.

The mechanism might just be gummed up. Try flushing it out with WD-40 which is a solvent. The locking mechanism is pretty simple, just a steel ball in a plastic cup that moves a lever to lock/unlock it.

Thanks I’ll try that now. Have another one coming but back ups are always good. I like my girlfriend want to make sure I don’t lose her out the side

Also, if you haven't already done so, try a thorough cleaning with compressed air and a shop vac. I replaced my drivers side belt because the previous owner was a bit rotund, and the belt had a permanent fold where his belly overhung. The replacement I bought off eBay wouldn't retract, and the seller swore it worked fine when he shipped it. I disassembled as much as I could and thoroughly cleaned it, and a dime fell out. It was apparently jammed in the works somewhere in the shipping process...

Just in case you can't revive your old belts (and don't want to buy used safety equipment) I bought these from Morris4x4. They are a little quick to lock when pulling them out, but my muscle memory has relearned to be a bit more deliberate, so no issue. They don't come with the little retractor stop button but it took two minutes to transfer the ones that were in my old belts.

My belts were likely original and were pretty chewed up and slow to retract.
