Are the transmission e-torx bolts reverse threaded?

So I have poured over all the posts on here about these E Torx bolts at the top of the transmission. What I'm not sure of is are they reverse threaded or normal threaded? I don't want to get cranking on those bolts the wrong way and strip them.

Why would you think they were reverse threaded?

I see people say reverse E Torx, not sure if that means reverse thread or if thats what the socket is called.

It means the torx part extends out, as in Extended Torx, and is the 'male' counterpart to the more common torx-head bolt with female torx recesses. It's not called a reverse E-Torx, reverse would be redundant to the Extended part of its name.

I thought they said E Torx for External Torx.

I think this is somewhat over panic’d subject. If you have the socket on correctly, and the right size, I didn’t think these are an issue.

They come out like normal bolts. Mine came out just fine, but ratchet extensions were absolutely necessary. When people use long extensions sometimes that leads to getting the socket not setting correctly etc.

Thank you guys for clearing it up. After a lot of extensions and holding my breath that I don't strip the bolts, they came out pretty easy.

If you have enough lift and have taken off the t-case first, I've found that I can literally sit under the jeep and have a straight shot at the top bolts. But also if you let the trans/motor drop down a little you can reach the top bolts without too much trouble. You read enough stuff online that makes it seem like like you're trying to get into a mormon chick's pants to remove these bolts, but it's actually more like trying to get into a catholic girl's pants.
