It's kind of awful if you want to keep parts. But you basically find a solid rod that fits the opening available... Then you pack bread in the hole until you can't, pound it with that rod, add more, and pound it again. The bread works into the cracks and crevices and slowly pushes whatever it packs behind out.

Today I learned. Thanks for the explanation.

The bread doesn’t ruin anything. You take the bearing out with a puller and then you just push the sleeve out with bread. It works it’s way behind the sleeve and pushes it out but it is perfectly good afterward.

The bread doesn’t ruin anything. You take the bearing out with a puller and then you just push the sleeve out with bread. It works it’s way behind the sleeve and pushes it out but it is perfectly good afterward.

The first time we serviced my clutch we used bread for all of it. It pushed out the bearing and bushing (packing the bearing full of bread). Second time we tried (the auto swap) we just used a blind bearing puller for both the bearing and bushing.

I remember packing it with wheel bearing grease and then hammer a piece of a broomstick in to pop that bearing out . But that was more than 35years ago so …

I heard grease works well too. I’d try that next time but now both Jeeps in the family are auto!

Bearing grease is a lot messier . I used that because it’s what I was taught . Bread may be a much less messy idea

Put a 240 outlet in my garage today. Pretty easy project. I put the outlet right on the other side of the breaker box so I only needed about 3 feet of wire in the end but started with 4’.

Drilled a hole in the outside wall and fed some flexible conduit through there and up into breaker box.

Just need to go get some caulk to put around the conduit and good to go!

Easy peasy! I have been wanting to do a 100 amp subpanel in the garage but the main breaker box is on the other side of the house! 100' of 1/0-1/0-1/0-2 SER is damn expensive.

I got lucky on mine. The place had a hot tub wired up out back that no longer worked. Shawn helped me just re-use those existing wires and run them into the garage (roughly the exact same distance from the breaker box) and we dropped the fuse down to a 25A.

Yeah this wire was $7 per foot so luckily I didn’t think twice about buying 4’ of it lol

I've picked his brain quite a bit on on what I want to do and how to do it. Hes been a real help. The SER is the only thing holding me back--its either way to expensive or just out of stock everywhere.

Super jealous. I could get by with 75' feet I am sure, but would rather have the extra because we want to add a hottub someday as well

I’ve got everything I need for my Dana 44/midarm/outboard shock project now. I’m just still working through my dads transmission swap first though. I’ve got the transmission mostly all hooked up but still need to do the interior stuff, radiator, trans cooler, motor mount lift, UCF ultra high skid, exhaust modification, rear spring/shock swap. Then it’s time for my Jeep!

You must sleep well at night with working on all these projects.

I don't use a hammer on the bad ones. I use an electric grease gun. Grease fitting threads into brass coupler, bolts thread into a couple of the holes in the crank. O-ring seals the ID of the bushing.

Just buttoned up my dads Jeep after the auto swap and it fired up perfectly right away. All 3 gears and TC lockup work perfect. Shifts are nice and smooth. No leaks at all. I am a happy camper. Now I can finally get that thing out of the garage and finish my midarm/axle swap/ shock outboard.
