Oregon Beach run, Pacific City

Plus the chance of watching ignorant folks get buried up to the frame in sand.

Oh yes, this alone is worth the trip. Last time I went it was a Volkswagen Jetta (lowered too) that made it out to the beach, but got stuck the moment they tried to go back. I love it!

There was a guy in a gussied up 800 series beemer coupe that tried to get on the sand not once, but twice this last summer. Buried it both times. Slow learner, I guess. Then the guy with the highly modified pickup. Buried it right where the fishermen pull their boats up. Then broke it. No driving skills, but lots of money.

You see a lot of that down there.

Sometimes I have to wonder if people like this seriously think they can do it, or if they're more or less doing it just for shits and giggles.

If it's the latter, then I hope they're okay with a potentially expensive towing bill (though usually most truck / Jeep owners are willing to help for free). Hell, I'd help for free, only because I get a joy out of using my winch (and I'm a generally nice person).

In a snow storm last year my neighbor with his brand new 5 series BMW X drive went out with the exclamation why do I need your Jeep, this thing is 4 wheel drive and it will go anywhere......15 later minutes I was pulling him out of an un-plowed road laughing my ass off.

That bar looks awesome...I wonder if on 3 days notice I could fly out and rent a new JL for the trip!

Haha, I’m not sure if anyone will be renting JLs that early. Maybe?

That idea rocks!

I just checked Budget Rentals in Portland, and they look like they rent Wranglers.

Flights weren't horrific either something like $350 round trip from JFK in NY to Portland...although that was using a date of June....short notice might be a bitch.
Then you can make the other run they are putting on there in Oregon in June. The " Meet, Greet & Wheel" one. I think a lot of people from here are going to show up....Washington & California included.

Pictures from today at Pacific City. Unexpected good weather.
